Work has given me a $1800 pre-tax buget (approx) to buy a laptop for myself.
This will be a personal machine first, work machine second. I would like to be able to play the odd First Person Shooter ( I have a copy of Doom3 here that I could never play as I haven't had a computer fast enough ).
As my employer's sister company sells hardware, I have to pick from one of their product lines. That includes Toshiba, HP, IBM and Lenovo.
I got a few tips ( correct me if I am wrong ):
1. Make sure the video memory is NOT shared
2. WUXGA is better than WXGA ( not sure by how much )
3. 9 Cell Batteries will give longer life, but weigh more
I seen a Toshiba laptop and I found the screen had all kinds of glare on it. It was almost like looking in a mirror. Do all Toshiba's have that glare?
If anyone wants to go beyond giving just tips, feel free to suggest a make/model however I would ask you justify your decision.
