Good deal if you need your teeth cleaned but can't afford to pay the $80-100 per visit at a regular hygienist. Here are some disadvantages:

- need lots of free time during the day to attend 2-3 hour sessions
- could have tired and sore mouth after keeping it open for that long
- could get your gums hacked by a student

Going there is a much better choice than not getting dental cleaning anywhere though.

Hey, don't knock the dental colleges. I was going to the U of T dental dept. for awhile before I had a dental plan and they had first class equipment, better than my dentist. They always had a qualified dentist there if needed. The students working on your mouth are at their last year of studies, probably interning even and it was like a regular visit, not 2 -3 hours.

The info submitted by JetHeller suggests the visits will be 2-3 hours. Perhaps the U of T program is better designed than this one. And about the gum-hacking, you probably had a highly competent student. But their first few times doing cleaning could have been a bit scary especially if the patient has gum disease. I guess hacked gums usually heal in a few days, like if you bit yourself on the tongue.

I don't think you'd be in the dentist chair for 3 hours.
They are probably slower because they have to make the whole "dental plan" and have stuff reviewed by the instructor.

But it's still a good deal for people who need dental care.

I'm sure its no different then when u go to the hospital or docrtors and there is a medical student who is an "intern" helping out!
