Everytime I ride my mtn bike in rain, my brake pads need replacing. This has happened twice. The pads wear out. I guess the wet mud and sand on rim accelerates wear. Problem is that it happened in race.

Disc or V-brakes? If it's disc I don't really see why it should wear out so fast because I think it would be hard for dirt/sand to get stuck on the rotor. As for V-brakes though, an excessive buildup of sand on the wheel might cause it to wear, but it shouldn't be so damaging as to replace each time. Check your alignment to make sure your brakes aren't rubbing on your wheel/rotor as that may be what causing it to also wear even on normal riding.

V-brakes. I just rode down a couple hills on the powerline road in coquitlam, bc. about 30 minutes max of riding. the pad is worn right down to base.

What kind of pads are you using? Pads should take at least several hundred kilometres of road riding before they need replacing.
