If you read the existing coupon for 20% off it says that the coupons are combinable. But you just have to figure out a way of doing it, maybe call Dell? As the original 20% off coupons says:
Not combinable with volume or other discounts or other promotional offers (except advertised promotional Internet access offers and online only offers).
This seems like an online only offer to me? Unless it was advertised elsewhere?

If it's great, than the lag would probably be unbearable. There's tradeoffs in "internet TV". 365Kbps seems to be the best you can get from an internet connection from afar, and if you've ever played a video at that bitrate, you know how grainy it is....

For Ontarians, the NCIX Acer 17" LCD deal's better. No PST, and you get three years' warranty anyway. Shipping's reasonable too.

It's $8 more than the Dell deal for Ontarians. I'd rather buy the Dell since from what I've heard, you can return it even if there's only 1 dead pixel.

If you want a really hot deal on the axim, last time on dell days they would allow you to buy the bundle and then cancel the individual portions of the bundle and they would subtract the full price.
Like in this case if you order the bundle for $409 you could then call and cancel the rhinoskin, extra battery and sd card and your total would be like $259.
You could then go and pick up those things somewhere else for much cheaper. ebay or something. Like you probably don't even need an extra battery to begin with

I'll check that review out as well, from the epinions site, the reviews seem to think fairly highly of it as well as other sites that I've googled. I realize that I won't get the quality if I were watching it on tv but for the ability to watch your shows anywhere with an internet connection is quite nice.
edit: From the CNet video, it doesn't look half bad! Very tempting ;)

If you find a lower advertised price on an in-stock new identical item from an Authorized Canadian dealer, now or within 30 days of your purchase (14 days on computers and laptops), just show us the price. We will match it and give you 10% of the difference as a credit to your purchase (maximum $50 credit)!

ive used both, and the slingbox is far better, i used a pvr500 with orb. Lots of driver issues as well. I just ordered an ADS usb pvr (the one supported by orb) im going to try that one out should be here within the next day or 2 (80USD from newegg).

It looks kinda ugly and cheap (IMHO).... Other than watching TV 'anywhere' in the world, I can already remotely controll my XPMCE to do recording from internet...
And why (and how often) one is going to watch TV at home from a remote location? Office? (Nah. Too busy) Travelling? (Get better things to do) I just can't think of a reason why I need to watch TV from remote... (same for that Sony TV thing way back, but atleast you can take the 'panel' around the house cuz it is wireless)

it allows for one connection only (otherwise alot of legal issues). The slingbox controls your settop box, so connecting remotely, you have the ability to change the channel. They watch what you watch hah.

well its not like an LCD that you have to look at all day, it jsut sits in the corner, so how it looks is irrelevant. Read the reviews, slingmedia has sold over 200k units without a LICK of advertising. Ive seen the quality and im quite impressed.
The only reason im ordering it is because my brother is going to school in europe, and hed like to watch some nhl/cfl ... we were using orb, but going to try this out.

Dunno - heck I cannot even get to the configeration page anymore on Dell (site is "too busy" or "down").
When I could get on earlier - I got the same price you did - seems like the person stumbled on a price error (think Dell will honor it provided not too many other people got the reduced price).

i originally wanted to set this thing up at home...then when i'm in waterloo (UW) i'd be able to watch certain channels that i can't get in waterloo (at least not for anything under $70/month) i.e. Fairchild TV. ;)
but if this means a tug-of-war for control over the channels with folks at home, then...hmm..not the best solution. :(

it allows for one connection only (otherwise alot of legal issues). The slingbox controls your settop box, so connecting remotely, you have the ability to change the channel. They watch what you watch hah.
Right, but if you have another coax. line somewhere else in the house, you can use that line to connect to the slingbox. Effectively making the slingbox another tv, you just don't get the extra channels that the settop box will get. Not a big loss for me.

So, if you had two settop boxes, couldn't you set one up with the slingbox for yourself remotely without interfering with the one your folks are watching?

Oooh... that SlingBox is really tempting... I've been looking at them for a little while but found them expensive at 300$. I sometimes stay overnight at my parents' place, and their cable sucks compared to my digital cable with PVR.
One great feature that nobody has mentioned is that I would be able to program my PVR remotely. It's happened so many times that I was not at home and I hear of a program I want to record that day or evening, but can't get home to program it, this would solve the problem totally.
I will try to PM this with the local FutureShop that reports stock on hand to get the extra 10$ off, it's only a few minutes walk from my apartment building.

Like you probably don't even need an extra battery to begin with
Can this still be done? How long after placing order do we call and cancel?

I believe people were doing it shortly after ordering it. Just give it a try. Order it and then an hour or two later call them and say you don't want the rest of the bundle and see if it works out and if it doesn't then just cancel. Let me know if it works,

onboard video uses AGP, if its an agp motherboard, and agp (in practice, if not in theory in the final version of the spec) only allows one device, so it is very unlikely you could use an agp card and onboard video...

Not all onboard video uses agp. The point is that multiple monitors is possible with on board video plus a video card and a hardware gadget to connect two monitors to one vga plug does not exist. If you simply just want to display the same thing on another monitor then only one video output is required plus a gadget. Since their are two vga outputs on this box, simply try out both and use the windows display properties applet to test things out.

as long as you can upload around 35-40 k/s or 350-400 kbps, you should be fine. Dont expect HD quality, but i watched it off my friend from the states and it was very watchable rarely rebuffered (unlike orb)

If you are going to use the axim together with the GPS, you DO need the SD/CF card to store the map.
Take TomTom 5 Navigator as example, the Canada map alone is about 90MB, and the US map is around 230MB. So even though the X51V has 256MB ROM, unless you only install the Canada map file on the axim, you need a CF/SD card.
As for the dell GPS unit, I don't think it's the current SIRFIII chip as used in Globalsat 338 which I am using, so don't expect "top notch" performance from it, but you can't go wrong with the price.

Hey guys, have a question about Slingbox.
I am at the top floor of my house and my only cable connections are in the basement. My parents are very opposed to running new cable, so it means I have no cable TV upstairs.
With the Slingbox and my wireless internet, could I run it internally that way? Is wireless G enough to have a stable and standard def image?
I wouldn't be buying it solely for that, (might want to watch TV at the office once in a while too), but without that kind of functionality, I'd have to pass.

Yes it could be ran internally, however, depending on signal strength your TV feed may studder at times. You can always get a signal booster for the wireless router though.

Looks like this deal will be up all WEEKEND !! or untill they sell out ?
NOPE..just added the LCD to my cart and it came up at regular price...BOOOO >:(
Can someone share the coupon code used to get the discount yesterday? The offer is still showing up on the deals page, it just won't add to cart at that price and there is no coupon code posted. Perhaps we could call Dell and get the deal? It's there clear as day on their site.
EDIT--and now it's not. They just updated and took off the sale info.

Not really. With ROM A06, the X51V is fairly stable and fast, and problems such as BSOD, missing CF with previous ROM are gone. If you are talking about the crippled MS BT stack, aximsiters have made it possible to use Widcomm BT stack on X51V, A2DP already works like charm. WM5 is relatively new and you are gonna give it some time, since when the first release of a MS OS works without any problem?
Needless to say, X51V is still one of the best and most powerful PDA in the market with whopping 256MB ROM, 16MB video card. And at the sale price, you really can't go wrong. Take a look at the HP WM5 PDAs, you will realize hwo poor the specs are and how expensive they are.
No, HP PDAs are not like the IBM's thinkpads to justify the high price tag.
For thoses that bought the Axim x51v, when you get play with everyday to make sure there's no problems. the x51v comes with WM5 and has tons of problems which are listed on aximsite.com. Dell is no longer making pda's maybe because the x51v was such a failure.

think i got a good deal... i called dell because i want the x51v and the GPS.
So I got
Dell X51v
GPS
1GB SD
449 + tx
That's the price of the x50, withouth the 1gb sd... good or not? :)
I tried to get the same deal last night, but the phone order line was closed. So I decided to place an order for both the x51 and the x51v bundle online and try to cancel out the options that I don't need today.
But I am getting the run around when I phone dell. The first person told me that the x51 + gps had already shipped. But this was unlikely, as I had only got the acknowledgement email, and not the order confirmation email. I was then forwarded to someone who could change the order, but their system was down, and they couldn't even see my order. They told me they would phone me back. I waited an hour and called back and now they can see the order, but I can't make changes to it until it is confirmation email is sent out.
Does anyone know if there is a restocking fee on the Axims? I might let them ship both and then once I figure out which one meets my needs, send back what I don't need. Is there much difference between the x51 and the x51v?
They did tell me that the GPS receiver is $279 on my x51 order, so I don't think I will be able to get the $450 price for the x51v, GPS and 1 gb SD card. If I cancel the x51 from the x51 + gps bundle, and cancel the battery and the case from the x51v bundle, it works out to 580. The must have had the GPS at 50% off when the x51v was ordered yesterday.

I returned three items to dell without shipping and restocking fees. It is better to cancel orders before being shipped out. If already shipped out, just figure out what to cancel because although it is a bundle, it seems discuont is all on axim, which made my axim x51v 272$ before tax.

Interesting, I been running WM5 around new years and had to go back to 2003SE because WM5 would lag like crazy, wouldn't shut off some times, and the oddest thing would happen out of the blue. I know my Axim wasn't defective since I been using 2003SE for about 6months before without any problems. I know WM5 is new and there's bound to be problems but since Dell has pulled out of the PDA business they are just trying to unload all their V51's and offer limited/no support.

umm I don't know why you're making up facts? Why don't you show me one reliable source that claims Dell is getting out of the PDA market. Dell has simply taken a break from producing new Axim devices until the rest of the PDA market catches up in terms of the hardware in the device (Axim is by far the best bang for your buck). As for WM5, the x50 was not designed for it and doesn't run it well. However, the x51 was and runs it extremely well. The only problem is that there are some bluetooth profiles missing, which is not a bug, but just cause dell hasn't gotten around to it. They are working on a patch and while they might be slow, it will get done.

They put my x51v 202$ taxes in, and GPS 279+tx, and the SD card alone, free.
Those are 3 different orders. If I cancel the GPS, will I still get the rest for 202$ ?? That's sick if I can do it.

Umm, do you even know the difference between the x50v and the x51v is? It's pretty much the same machine, a the slight upgrade in memory is cool but they removed the backup battery which sucks (I rather have a memory card with all my data on it anyways). WM5 is unreliable, what good is GPS when it just freezes when you drive around and uses it? I had to downgrade back to WM2003se and everything was fine again. My friend bought the x51v + gps during the last Dell deals and can't downgrade at all since he doesn't have the backup battery. Dell is out of the PDA business as they are putting all their efforts towards origami now. If you search around the net you may find some of the prototypes.

When I called, I told the guy i want the x51v with GPS with none of the accessories. He put me on hold 5 mins, then he came back telling me he could give me the x51v with GPS and the SD card for 449. I thought he was on crack, I double checked with him, asked him, x51v, BT GPS and SD card, 449? he said yes. Couldn't beleive it myself.

wow... nice deal u negotiated there....
i guess u just have to have the "right" CSR to deal w/....
not every1's so lenient ... YMMV
reminds me of last time Dell had the 24" dell deal and some1 phoned in to see if they could drop it down to $825 or $850 and some Dell rep did it....
most others that did the same but were denied.

Sorry to bring this a little bit off topic, but I couldn't help correcting some thing that's wrong.
X51V was designed as a WM5 device, so what's the point of having a backup battery? Everything is stored in the ROM and will still be there even though the battery is gone. With the old WM2003, once you run out of main battery and backup battery, you are screwed, all you data in the RAM is gone, forever! Don't tell me you store all you program and data on CF/SD cards, some of the programs have to be loaded in the RAM.
I also use my X51V with GPS, with the new ROM I never experienced problems as your friend did, are your friend runing on the latest A06 ROM? PDA just like a PC, you need to do tweaks to make it run better. X50V WM2003 was not that solid either when it first came out, that's why there are several ROM revisions.

Or do they even have one. I purchased the Axim 51v, not 3 weeks ago and now for only $5 more than I've paid, can get the essentials package (Xtra battery, case, 1gb memory card). Anyone had any experience with this type of situation and how was it resolved?
Thanks
Btw, I emailed customer service as well as the sales person that I dealt with, but neither have responded. :(

You can ask Dell anything you want, it's just a matter of what they will say. It doesn't hurt to try, the worse they can say is NO.

My total on my axim deal did not add up to the price on the acknowledgement email. I also received two other (text) emails that listed what was in some of the orders. It took me a few days to realize that these three emails added up to my total amount.
Also as each part ships, they have been charging me for each piece seperatly and have not been split up the in the same way as the first three emails.
In the end, it will add up to the total on the acknowledgement email.

Its ok for $180. The viewing angles arent great, there is some fuzziness on edges when panning in games, and a little too bright. Also the dell site describes it as having swivel and pivot, which it does not.
Im wondering if I should return it and get the 1707 next deal days, perhaps the extra $40 is worth it?

Got my Axim on Monday, noticed a line straight down from the top to the bottom of the LCD screen, of dead pixels. Called Dell on Tuesday, and apparaently the Service Tag number on my new axim is not listed to me. So after going back and forth with Customer care and Techinical Support, I have to wait between 24 to 48 for the Service Tag to be associated with me, before I get a the replacement request sent through. So tempted to just send it all back and get my money refunded, but, it does look sweet.
What was funny was the whole build up to getting it, in pieces and no I still got to wait before I get a good one in the end.

Manchungster, that sucks. I hope they get it sorted.
I received my Axim on Tuesday. It seems to work ok. I have never had one before so it is an adjustment.
I have surfed the internet (well hotmail and yahoo and google) and it is weird scrolling around to see the page.
The Rhino Skin case does not fit in the cradle. That is annoying.
