Is it okay to wear my contact lens while swimming?

If you wear goggles that have a tight seal around your eyes then yes, otherwise I'd try to avoid doing it since there's a chance of the contacts being washed away.

I swim with contacts. You have to make sure yours have a semi-permeable membrane and can let water out easily (talk to the place where you bought your contacts from). Once you buy those, the trick is to open your eyes once in the water, blink, then resurface..... then go down again and they won't come off your eyes once you're under.

i swim with goggles most of the time...my eyes are really sensitive to the chlorine...no problems with goggles at all...
i have on occasion needed to swim short distances under water with contacts on without goggles, and they haven't popped off yet. although if i were swimming competitively, that may a different issue since you're most concerned with head position (and i find my eyes tend to roll up or down to see lanes and/or competitors) which may make contacts easier to come off.

don't wear contacts without goggles in chlorinated pools. It just isn't safe for the contact. Sure, they may stay in place, but the chemicals in the pool attack the contact, making them degrade faster or even worse, infect your eyes.

How about waterslides? Last time I wore contacts on waterslides, they got washed out right away.... Any suggestions?
