Hopefully not a repost, exam time- no time to check if it's a repost or not

but was at factory direct today, nice pair of sony headphones for 20$. I don't know much about headphones or anything but I can tell you they def. look nice and sound nice (I'm using them right now). My guess would be they would retail for 40-50$ easy at FS or BB. They also throw in a free 2 pack of sony Dvd-rw's.
Don't know if it's a sale or when it ends so pick your headphones and free dvd-rw's (also sony) today! Lemme know what you think.

enjoy.

Thanks, but more info would be great. I assume these are the earmuff kind. If you could post the model number that would be awesome.

Deal or no deal? Not really sure. They're probably decent headphones for 20 bucks.

They are the MDR-V150s. MSRP 29.99.

http://factorydirect.ca/catalog/product_spec.php?pcode=SO1500

Have owned a few pairs of Sony headphones and the MDR-150s are...adequate. Not that comfortable or durable but reasonable fidelity. Probably the best phones at this price point.

they may be a "can't go wrong for $20" sort of deal... but beyond that these are junk headphones for anyone who's remotely into higher-end headphones. you'd be much better off with the KSC35's or porta pro's in terms of good sound quality <$50

There was a thread a while ago here:

From what people have said these cans are so-so.

Perhaps you should get a clue before accusing someone of lacking knowledge, 'cuz BobbyGeneric's right -- these headphones blow.

lol
funny argument

anyway, i've had these headphones before, worked decently well for regular music listeners, but then one side of the headphone band broke... leaving one earpiece disconnected..
since then i've gotten those panasonic headphones with the blue circles on the outside and they sound better than these sony ones IMO...

durabilty-wise i think the sony's are not so well designed... made the plastic too rigid therefore not too good for the people who tend to put their gear to heavy use.

another thing is that the cord (probably for studio/dj use purposes) is way too long for my liking. same thing with the panasonic set I have. but i just end up tying one end with a twist tie and leaving it in my pocket or bag anyway... no biggie

decent for price, but would rather go for the panasonic for around the same price... (i actually got them for 15/pair when thesourcecc had 2for1 sale for pana)

I have these headphones and I find them very uncomfortable. You cant really adjust the width between the two speakers and they pinch. Also I find the sound quality below average. I have a higher model Sony and its much more comfortable and better quality sound but I believe it was around $50.

I personally would avoid these headphones even at this price.

I use to have these Sony, bought them 20 buck at zellers back in the day...and yeah they suck...a lot! KSC35-75-portapro etc from koss beat them from a mile away...and you are the ignorant one here.
Good night...and good luck :D

I think we're missing part of the point here... they're $20 headphones! Sure, $50 headphones are better, but they're' more than double the price. You can get $100, or even $1000 headphones too, and guess what, they're better than the $50 headphones... wow! :D

If I was somebody who just wanted a cheap average set of headphones, it sounds like I'd go for this deal. If I'm into music and want higher quality (in any way, not just flat response/etc) then I probably wouldn't be looking at headphones that only cost $20. :)

When Im saying is that they arent even worth $20 to me because they arent comfortable. I spent $30 on these at the time and after a few weeks I stopped using them because I found them uncomfortable so then I had to buy the $50 headphones. So my $30 was wasted.

Just because they cheap doesnt mean they are a good buy. But yeah, they are probably good enough for some people, but I would try them on first if you can.

I don't mean to threadcrap but these were sold for $16 at factorydirect a couple of months ago. I bought them just to watch movies and not disturb others, they serve great for that purpose. Funny thing, I see people wear these EVERYWHERE nowadays. Just like these were a couple of years ago: http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B00005QBUR.03.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

They are indeed not the most comfortable of all, the reason being that they can't really cup your ears completely because the cans are too small. The trick is to wear them slightly lower than you normaly would for this type of headphones; As for the sound - the bass is quite decent for cans of this price, I love the way New Age sounds in these. However, mids are very supressed, and the extreme highs SOUND ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. I mean so bad you'll want the headphones off when the music hits that high note. So for music like classical, latin etc. that make use of high notes a lot you have to turn highs down with an equalizer.

For those of you that are into clubbing, music sounds similar in these as it would in a small nightclub. If that helps.

The cord is long but all you have to do to shorten it is take a rubber band or a cable tie of some sort and tie it up.

Bottom line is - these perform EXACTLY as good as $20 cans should. No better no worse. If I could return mine I would, even though I paid even less than that. But then I have Etymotic Research Er6 to compare these to  If you want rock-bottom cheap with half decent sound, this is just right.

the sony "dj" headphones that the OP posted are indeed crappola frankie. I own a pair as well. For $20 you can get better headphones for sure.

If you don't believe me, do a google search on those headphones for professional reviews that berate them as well. They are uncomfortable, have tinny sound, and make your $500 mp3 player feel like a $35 ghetto blaster you just picked up at the value village. someone on the head-fi forums offered these for free with a sale on their BST forum and the guy REFUSED to take it - FOR FREE. hahah.

I got my ksc75 for 25$ and they are way better than these...but yes 1k$ headphones sound good.

Cold deal

That's the thing -- there are $20 headphones far superior to this model.
