the arguement i've been hearing on the fan (mostly on the jays) is that "it's not our money" it's (ted) rogers' but i think they missed the point that in some form sooner or later the fans will have to pay more to see the teams play.

take the leafs they over spent on way too many players and ticket prices and i think concession prices have increased to offset the new player salaries (not that the leafs need an excuse to increase prices but i'm pretty sure there were 2 increase in the last 4 years).

I don't think the Leafs increased ticket prices simply because of an increase in player salaries. I think they increased them because they knew they could. That and the fact that they need to finance condominiums and soccer stadiums.

With the Jays, they could increase ticket prices if they wanted, but then the fans likely wouldn't come out as much. They would have to find a nice balance.

The only problem with signing these players is that they don't pan out and you're stuck with their contracts. Since there's no cap though, it doesn't seem like a huge deal.
