Ok, I just had a really bad experience with an American On-line watch dealer.. Duty is a *****, and I had no clue it was would amount to $128 for a $267 watch.

Long story short, I got screwed out of a really good deal... If I had lived in the States, I might consider buying it.. but now I figure I don't want to give my money to an American company.

Anyone know of any good Canadian (strictly Canadian) on-line watch dealers? I don't want to use google to search for one (or CANOE) just because I want realy live experiences to work off of. If you know one, or have heard of a website that has similar topics please let me know!

None of the standard ones like Birks/Jubilee... I'm looking for stores that are on-line only and have drastically reduced prices due to a lack of a storefront (incase you don't know the meaning of an ON-LINE retailer :))

Any help is appreciated

Cheers!
Handa

That store has some pretty craptacular selection/prices.

I don't get it... Why can't stores in the US simple label their shipments as 'Gift' and save their customers duty fees...Will that constitute fraud??

You probably ended up paying UPS's 'brokerage' fee. It's just some huge BS fee they tack on to shipments that cross the border that no other courier applies. I always refuse to buy from someone in the US if they'll only ship by UPS. I remember being charged $28 brokerage for an item that was valued at $36. Check the receipt and I bet the bulk of what you paid was that BS brokerage fee.

Correction: the bulk of what I was going to pay, had I accepted the package.

I promptly told the UPS delivery guy where he could shove that package... He didn't seem shocked at all, I'm sure it happens all the time.

I am surprised this has never happened to me before; but then again I guess most of what I buy is off of eBay and not constituting a purchase from an American "store".

AMAZON.COM is going to refund everything for me; item+shipping. Good almost doin' business with ya AMAZON!
