STAFF REPORTER
A 17-year-old who was shot in the foot at a crowded birthday party for his sister early yesterday said the two gunmen weren't invited and they were "friends of a friend."
The victim and another man were both shot just before 4 a.m. at the house party on Lambton Ave., near Jane St. and Eglinton Ave. W.
The two gunmen arrived late at the party, the 17-year-old told the Star, adding he had never met them before.
"The bullet went through my foot," he said, pointing to his heavily bandaged left foot.
"I was standing around (at the party) and, from the corner of my eye, just saw something move. Then all I heard was gunfire, gunfire, gunfire."
Toronto police responded, and found a trail of blood and the wounded 17-year-old inside.
His grandmother was asleep on the second floor along with several other young people, police said.
About two hours later, officers discovered another shooting victim — an 18-year-old with wounds to his face, shoulder and leg — hiding in the basement.
While there were at least 50 people inside the house at the time of the shooting, police said yesterday that they had received little co-operation from the guests and had yet to find any suspects.
Despite his injuries, the man who was shot three times wasn't co-operating with police.
Nearly seven hours after he was shot, the 17-year-old had returned home from hospital. Outside his home, birthday streamers and balloons lay intertwined with police tape. Leftover food was still lying on the kitchen table.
Overturned, broken flower vases, spilled drinks and a bloody oxygen mask were strewn on the living room carpet.
Anyone with information is asked to call Toronto police at 416-808-1204 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS.
*****Question is ..... Why would this stupid idiot ("Despite his injuries, the man who was shot three times wasn't co-operating with police.") not co-operate with police????? *****
We have to put these stupid idiots who carry guns behind bars!!!
And why the heck were there more than 50 in a house?????

Catch 22:
If the cops do anything about it, it's racial profiling.
If they don't, they're neglecting the community and allowing crime to fester.
It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

Well the man who got shot, not cooperating because if his attacker finds out....he quite possibly get retaliated against. The law can only protect you so much.
Yeh, agreed - or he has something to hide!

He already got shot once. What thinks he can "hide" ? He's gonna get shot again. He probaly did something stupid in the first place to get people after him.

but I thought that was your stance? to defend himself, and then if retaliation comes, fight back and leave a lot of dead people, especially those bastard bystanders.

So if someone shot you, and they threatened you to not go to the police, you'd still go?

of course, he got shot once already, how many times do you need to get shot to wake up? perhaps he needs more pain.
i wasn't saying he was stupid not cooperating, i was saying he was stupid to have 50 people in his house, invited or otherwise. should have saw that coming from a mile away, next time anyone think they can control a 50 people party, think again.

You're just assuming that the victim had control over the situation. Who knows, maybe he planned the party, or maybe he was just there?

I hate these idiots with their "Stop Snitching" mentality ... "I'm street yo, I won't tell" ...
I can't even begin, don't get me started.
My suggestion? The cops should walk around with the shirts "Stop Snitching" and when someone gets shot or killed, you give it to them.
You're dead but hey ... I'm not a snitch ... stop snitchin' yo ...
Retards.

I can't even tell you how much that urkes me ...
Friggin' media, that's the ONLY influence on these kids and that's the truth.
When they grow up, are their parents really pumping in their heads "Don't tell the cops, they can't be trusted" ... maybe, but realistically for most, the police are there for protection of YOU ... they HELP YOU.
Time and place for everything ... if you've been shot, your life is ruined, your a criple or what have you ... I'll press you a T-Shirt.
You can't walk but yo, you're cool ... you didn't snitch.
I read this thing from XXL I think this month ... someone's comment was "I have so much respect for Cam'Ron for not snithching when he got shot ... so many of these n!ggas in the street ain't real, they'll snitch as soon as they get it ... Cam'Ron is dope yo" ...

I don't think it's the media at fault here, it's peer pressure. I agree, there are instances where people are idiotic and should tell the authorities, but there are always exceptions. If the mob threatened your family and your kids, would you still tell? Hey, aren't there people put into prison for protection against the people they snitched on, because once they're released, they'll immediately be killed?

I agree with you, because I don't want to sound like one of these quacks who blames life on Grand Theft Auto.
But the reason I bring it up is this ... we live in TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA.
You want a real ghetto, go to a third world country. People in our country do not need to be shooting each other and killing others for ego boosts ...
The stop snitching mentality is very ghetto, very below the poverty line ... and maybe therefore, very Hip-Hop.
I don't think IT is the reason, but at the same time it doesn't help. They play off each other. When your kid looks up to a crack-hustling "Snowman", we've got some problems.

Arrest these idiots for contempt. I hate the mentality of youths today "no man, I'm no snitch"... oh ok, in the slammer you go. We'll see if your cell mate is in the mood for some virgin arse.
Too bad the wounds weren't fatal. These guys who know something and won't speak up are prime candidates for the Darwin award. Their parents must be proud.

Someone commits a CRIME against you ... something as aggressive and dirty like that, which can ruin someone's life ...
He's taking away your rights ...
The police take away his.
Why is it not looked at like that?
I got robbed for my chain once ...
Long story short, the idiots were running for so long, skipping bail, they ended up longer in jail than they ever would have been in the first place ...
I had some kids come up to me in the community "Oh you snitched" ... okay and?
This dude stole my chain ... so I screwed him over like he screwed me.
What's wrong with that?
Yeah I'm a snitch and this dude is sittin' his a$$ in jail ...
All together now ...

I am not condoning the refusal to co operate with the police. But I think many of you are not fully comprehending the situation. Once you talk to the police you are likely targeted for retribution. It is likely the police will not be able to help you.

another internet thug right here!!!
your friend/family member gets shot or killed, your gonna be street hoodlum and fix the problem?
Then again, when you have nothing to live for, live off welfare, have no education, or have a crappy job, being a "thug" is the only thing that makes your feel powerful.

Sorry if this has been posted before. But its different times today. there are gangs who will go after your friends your family or anybody close to you if you do something to attract the wrong attention to them. Have to keep that in mind when you think about a situation like this
