hey this is a weird question....do patrol cars have time logs of what they do? are they required to do so? like if they pick someone up off the street and drive them home do you think they would have that in their log?

it would probably be recorded somewhere, yes.
however, if it happened to you, dont worry. It wont come back to bite you in the ass, and unless they spoke with your parents, they wont find out wither (unless they call you later on, which is possible)
your name is probably in the system however.

Call the police and ask them, they'd probably know better than us.
NOTE: Do *NOT* call 911. ;)

yea i went to the police station...they told me tough luck lol..i guess something small like getting picked up by police for being drunk doesnt really need to be logged lol

Yes.
Each cop carries a memo book to record anything and everything they do. Time and date are the most important items to have so you can bet they have a record of pulling you over with your pants to the floor... or whatever.. then again... most of'em are lazy and won't bother.
One thing's for sure... if you ask for it... they won't give it to you.

If you get pulled over or arrested, then yes, it will be logged in the cops notebook as well as in the computer.
If the cop just stops to talk to you because you look suspicious, no, it probably won't be logged anywhere.

If they pick somebody up, it's not necessary to give a time to the dispatcher but it wud be in their best interest to do so in case of any mishaps. Time logs are required for prisoner or suspect transport.
If yer friend left something in the scout car, it wud be turned in at the stn. If a 208 was done on your friend then the officer wud try to track u down to give it back to you. If there was no way to contact your friend then it wud be transported to the property bureau. You also mentioned your friend was drunk so quite frankly his memories are probably not all there as well.

To add onto his last point, it's not uncommon for stuff to disappear when people get picked up for public intoxication. Any and all personal items will be taken once the person is at the station (although they may leave you with your own shirt and pants). It's not unheard of for watches, necklaces, small amounts of money, etc. to disappear.
It's not right, but in places where public intoxication is common, it does happen.

doo daaa... gotta like the misinformation on public boards. Considering I'm reading a police disclosure right now that includes police notes.... trust me, everything gets written down, primarily because a) its a crown attorney that ultimately decides whether to file charges b) you have no idea if someone is going to become relevant in the future.

Try again, not everything gets written down. It varies from officer to officer. Do you normally read one source then pretend you know everything relating to that subject?
First of all, if a person gets picked up for public intoxication, that's a provincial offence, it is not federal. It has a small fine, nothing more. Now, most cops will write it in their book if they pick someone up for being drunk, especially considering that person is under arrest, but they don't always.
I have personally worked with an officer who wrote next to nothing in his notebook. He wrote traffic stops and when criminal charges were laid, that's it.

hmm.. not one source... lets just say quite a few disclosures, although fine, I'll give it to you that yes, it probably does vary from officer to officer.
Perhaps I was a bit to assertive, but hey, sure seems like most things get written down.
The crown's screwed up enough times that they forget to black out the other stuff in the notebook and you see the most banal stuff being written down about what they were doing both before/after the relevant incident.
THAT, and the fact that in a vast number of incidents, you have no idea if charges are going to be ultimately laid. Tons of times I've read disclosures where the cop makes a note of seeing a guy at a certain time, but doesn't actually go any further.. and then a few hours later only then does the guy get picked up for something completely unrelated but they disclose both sets of notes.
