My DI-524 is in the closet but the things to secure are the same for most wireless routers.

1. Disable SSID broadcasting. This is a small thing but still worth doing.
2. Enable WPA-PSK. This is a big thing. Choose a good passphrase.
3. Enable MAC address filtering.
4. Change the default password for logging in. This is a big thing to do.
5. Change default SSID. Not a big thing but something you should do.

We'll start off with those, and see how you do in getting them set up.

up.

Not worth it. Your SSID is readily available in plain text from your message headers, whether you are broadcasting it or not, so all you are doing is inconveniencing yourself to no purpose.

2. Enable WPA-PSK. This is a big thing. Choose a good passphrase.

Definitely! This is the very least you should do.

3. Enable MAC address filtering.

Also not worth it. Same deal as SSID,

4. Change the default password for logging in. This is a big thing to do.

Yes.

5. Change default SSID. Not a big thing but something you should do.

Good idea so that you will recognize your own network when you scan for access points.
