Just wondering if this is a good deal:
Jetta TDI 2006, standard, ESP, Side curtain airbags, with freight, PDI-$27,400, so just over 29,000 with GST

Thanks

2005 Jetta TDI is rated above average for reliability by Consumer Reports. I would expect the 2006 to be similar. Try www.tdiclub.com for help on pricing.

i like the tdi's a lot

i'd buy it in a heartbeat

and the people that bad mouth the reliability can stick to a corolla ;)

Tell them to throw in a tow truck, which you'll need badly according to the latest VW reliability results.

Otherwise, maybe it's worth $17,000?

A Corolla is a good option, since the new Jetta looks like a perfect styling knock-off.

Are you driving a lot? ie 100km+/day or 50km+ one way?
If the answer is yes, then by all means get a tdi or other diesel. If you are only driving 10 or 15km one way, look for something different than diesel.

Diesel engines perfom better at high temperatures, and if you use them only for short distance trips the engine doesn't get hot enough and you will end up with a bunch of "gunk" in the engine and decreased performance. They are good for longer distances not short trips.

This would be my second diesel and 3rd VW. I had a 97 Jetta Diesel and I have a 99 Golf right now. I'm looking for a price guidance more then anything else. I have looked at other cars and have set my mind of this one. I’m well aware of the prior VW problems.

They may look the same, but they don't drive the same
