Ok whats the best way to do this? I'm getting a good deal on a car so I have to buy it now, problem is I still have my current car. So does that mean I have to pay insurance on 2 cars and get new license plates for my second car until I sell it? Is there some sort of temporary license and insurance I can get for my old car just so people can test drive it and stuff? Any help would be great.

New plates for a car are only ten bucks, so might as well get new plates and stickers. keep your old plates on the old car till you sell it then bring back the plates to the ministry and they'll refund the time remainng on you valid stickers.

with insurance, just tell them what your planning on doing and it wont cost you much as they'll let you cancel the car the day you sell the car. Worst part is when you add the second car you have to pay first/last payment at once, so you end up paying alot upfront but when you cancel the car you get your last month back from your old car. make sense?

Did you try selling the old car to the dealership as a trade in?

Because,

New car price = (New car cost - old car trade in price + freight, PDI ) * tax

You save a lot on the taxes because the cost of the new car is less'd by the trade in for the old car first.

Dealers always rape you on trade ins.

The same vehicle that wasn't worth much, for whatever reason, when they buy it from you will be sitting on their lot two days later with a hefty price tag on it.

You could also get a trip permit.

Not recommended. Its good for only 10 days and you still have to get insurance.

I didn't say to take the insurance off the car, and 10 days should be more than enough to sell a vehicle.
