Online Availability: These products are not available online.

Store Availability: These are in-store specials available in limited quantity with no Rain Checks. Not all products available at all stores.

Find it in-store. (http://www.thesourcecc.com/estore/locator.aspx?language=en-CA&product=1918710)

Stores still have them, but very few units left in stock, so if you want to get one, act fast!!!

My comment - light duty GPS, but the best standalone GPS value I have seen so far, and can be connected to your laptop to work with Mapping software. :) :)

Limited quantity? When did this sale start? 18 stores in Calgary, sold out at 17 of them, one in stock at the remaining store.

Note that there's no map capability for this one, the only thing nice about it is that it's waterproof

IN GTA quite a few stores had it, one or 2 per store mostly. Not sure when the sale started though.

SourceCC clearance items are typically in very limited quantity anyway...

I just bought myself the garmin legend a couple days ago. This is a pretty good price, however, I don't think I could go from having 8mb for maps to 0mb.

All in all, anyone who just wants something for simple place-marking (for camping etc), this is a solid deal.

I have the Garmin eTrex, which is pretty much the same as this (with a couple of extra features, but no maps) and I have it mounted on my bike when I go cycling. It's great for telling you your speed, odometer, how far from home you are and best of all, it creates a path to tell you where you've been so you don't have to pay attention to where you are going, just follow the (virtual) breadcrumb path home! :D

It is certainly getting close to it... This morning I saw about 25+ units total available in GTA, now it is more like 10-11+

Funny find though :) :)

just a note that the stores that have 1 left might be phantom stock and/or floor display...

yep, went to Richmond Hill (Major Mac) and there were none (2 according to web)... bought the remaining display unit at Markham (warden/7). There was no discount for demo but at least it came with batteries lol. Thanks OP

Bought last one (display model) at Wilson and Jane store (North York).

OP: thanks!

I just bought a serial cable for it from NavSphere through Amazon. I'd post a link, but the link I've got might have account information encoded in it. US$7.95 + US$6.95 S&H. Other ways I got there seem to yield higher prices. Oh wait: I'll use their "tell a friend" mechanism to launder the URL: http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/B00073MPBW/tellafriend-20/ref=cm_taf_text_link

That's probably a great price considering the manufacturer Gilsson is selling for $17.95. link (http://www.gilsson.com/garmin_gps/cables/epc.htm)

I tried one in the store. After 5 minutes of power up, it is still searching or something for SAT; the signal meter is zero  . There is also a screw on the back of the unit, not sure why  . I did not buy it >:( .
For people who brought it, how long does it take from power up to operation readiness?

The screw is only used if you purchase optional mount etc. It does not hold the GPS together. I played with my geko for a bit, it performs poorly indoors unless you are next to a window and pointing the right way. On the street, it can connect in less than 1 minute, occasionally loses signal when near buildings(?) but regains it quickly. All in all, I think this can be used while urban traveling etc when I get lost, rather than just "outdoor wilderness" (I never go there :P)

All in all, I think this can be used while urban traveling etc when I get lost, rather than just "outdoor wilderness" (I never go there :P) As far as I can tell, GPS normally does not work in buildings. As the Geko manual explains, there is even a demo mode so that you can demonstrate how it works inside a building (i.e. a store) (it doesn't actually work in demo mode, it just lets you demostrate features).

I don't really know how this device could be useful in a city. Few city folk say "I'll meet you at 43 15' 23" and 85 51' 31"." I thought of using the cookie crumb feature to help me when lost in Toronto's PATH, but that is indoors so I'm out of luck.

I expect that the main use of ours will be for geocaching and other games.

Cute little toy, isn't it?

i.e. I go to a city I have never visited before... I already have map software on my laptop, so if I get lost in the dark somewhere I can pull up my coords and find my way back to the hotel. IMHO more versatile than car gps or laptop gps (i.e. can punch in coords beforehand and not lug around laptop) and cheaper than PDA+GPS.

as far as the GPS games go, I ended up almost running into a neighbour's house, so gonna pass on that until I go camping or something. :(

You are exactly right. The GPS will not work in a building. In fact, if you are in a forest, you have to make sure you are in somewhat of a clearing to get a good signal. Your best bet is to look up....if you can see a good amount of sky, it should be able to get the three satellites needed to calculate your position. The more satellites you connect to, the more accurate your reading will be.

For successful GPS use you always should have clear view of the sky,the more the better. With tall buildings around it, it will not operate weell, trees usually do not create such a significant problem.

It will work trough the windows if it is not armoured with metal.

I have the 101 model, which is almost the same, but with fewer gadgets. Depending on how much sky is visible, and how many satellites are in view it is ready to go between roughly 30 and 90 seconds.
I think this GPS works well. If you don't need a bunch of gadgets it's a great value.
One flaw: the power button is too easily pressed accidentally (as in when it's in your backpack. One solution is to cut off the top of the button to make it flatter, or glue a rubber washer around the button.

actually I did not find the same problem. The button already has a little ring around it, and now that I have put it into an old cell phone holder, I can't press the power button at all (I have to take it out to press :D)

Other than the GPS and documents, what else is in the box?
Any mount brackets/hardware included?

So basically, for city use, without a built in map or a laptop with a built in map, its a toy.

I doubt there is any real stock anywhere, these were on clearance last year, when I was looking to get a unit, I ended getting the Legend from Christmas... These have been on clearance since at least September... Not that low, but still less than half price before... And our stores in Chatham here at that time had stock, at least the computer said they did.

I've been wanting to get a wrist mounted GPS for when I go running to tell me how far I have gone on my run, can this one do that (obviously not to be worn on my wrist)?

It should work... has functions like total distance, average speed etc which may be useful. I thought about using it like that but would be better if it was AA instead of AAA.

You want one of the Garmin Forerunners for that purpose. It also has a virtual running partner and the more expensive models also have a heart rate monitor. Canadian Tire (http://www.canadiantire.ca/assortments/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=84552444325 0721&FOLDER%3C%3EbrowsePath=2534374303517496&FOLDER%3C%3EbrowsePath=1408474396670273&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1408474396670273&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474396670271&bmUID=1144023560315) sells 1 or 2 models if you want to try before you buy it for cheaper at GPS City (http://www.gpscity.ca/cat-wrist-gps.htm) or GPS Central (http://www.gpscentral.ca/products.htm#fitness)

I had an urge to buy another @ 59.99 then return @ 79.99
but the webpage said Dixie still has 6 left... trying to find another one in store that isn't "phantom stock" could be very time-consuming :)

If any one is interested, Square One in Mississauga has one without a box (they couldn't find the box, it might be there if they had more time to look!), but it looks new.
This was at 2:00PM Today Sunday April 9th.
Good luck

Found one at Jackson Square in Hamilton. Don't think there are any left in the area since I first went to the store on Upper James and, even though they have one listed as in stock, they sold it a few weeks ago so the online inventory was incorrect for that store. Thanks to the original OP!
