so after MIR, it's like "free", u just have to pay taxes on the $25....
not sure, but i seems like FS has a "free" after MIR promo every yr for McAfee Anti-Spyware and/or VirusScan b/c i bought the McAfee Anti-Spyware for "free" after MIR last yr... (actually, i remember it was supposedly $10 - $10 MIR, but the MIR form stated $30 MIR, so i got paid ~$20 to buy it :D )

geez...don't kid yourself people even 1cent is not FREE.
I guess it's pretty darn good if you buy this spyware baloney. Free ones are just as powerful., browser incorporated ones like with maxthon/avant are great.
$25x.15=more than a few cents. $4?
of course I'm looking at this from a "I don't need this, but want to get it for the sport of pm'ing" pov..so you can see it doesn't appeal to me.

Some nice utilities people should look into to avoid headaches down the road at a nice price.
But for a "real free" try AVG anti virus free personal edition.
Free download.
My computer is not that new and Virus stoftware slows it to a crawl. AVG is by far the most efficent anti virus I have seen in use.
If you have a much older computer then definatly stick to AVG. Mcafee and Norton KILL your computer.

.
25 x 1.15 = 28.75
less 20% gc = 23.00
less $25 MIR = (2.00)
oh and stamp/envelope.. but whatever... it's free for some of us! Thanks MJM..

For those PM enthusiasts, try this:
PM this at BB: http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10065901&catid=21241
$39.99 - $25.00 = $14.99 * 10% = $1.50
So after PM, it's only $23.50 + tax.
Next, go here: http://www.mcafeerebates.com/promocenter/mcafee/promo_search.html
Select:
Product Purchased: ANTI-SPYWARE/PERSONAL FIREWALL PLUS/QUICKCLEAN
Date Purchased: 03312006 (or whatever date you purchased it)
Purchase Location: BEST BUY (remember, parent company of FS)
Country: Canada
Then go to Continue.
I've also noticed that there's also a $15 MIR for the MCAFEE ANTISPYWARE product option, so perhaps some will be able to get both?

AVG is good but its not perfect. I had something in my java zip or something, and avg would only tell me its there. not clean, quaranteen or delete. I then ran McAfee and it got rid of it for me.
A year ago, "they" were saying the only anti spyware programs you need are Microsoft Anti spyware, Adaware and Spybot. That between the 3, most spyware would be detected and removed. So is that still acurate or is there one program that has come up to bar now? Spybot never seems to need an update.

Picked up a copy @ noon, thanks, MJ.
Seems to be overlap between the VirusScan package and the AntiSpyware so got both for same price. Anyone know the diff.

um, u didn't purchase the Personal FW or QC...
the product purchased is just the Anti-spyware.
if u look up either "MCAFEE ANTI-SPYWARE" or "MCAFEE ANTI-SPYWARE (BOXED" no results are found...

i've used AVG for a while now too,... i agree it's a great AV s/w but it doesn't get "everything"...
i've used McAfee VS (old version) b4 and it has caught something AVG couldn't...
but then again, McAfee is just like Norton; they both eat up the resources like no 2moro.... (this is really bad if u installed it on a PII 500MHz PC and u also have many other programs installed/running... seriously, it lags like hell after a few mths w/ McAfee... lol )
