The teen, who suffered a fractured skull, was beaten in a mall parking lot next to Turner Fenton Secondary School where he was a student. It happened at around 3pm before several stunned witnesses.
Turner Fenton is supposedly one of the best schools in Peel; especially because it has the IB-Program. :|

There are stupid kids everywhere.
Stupid kids come from stupid parents, I don't care what people say.
They have to learn the complete lack of human emotions from somewhere.
How can you group up & beat on one person & see them defending themselves, or even sometimes begging them to stop, & still they continue
These kids lack respect, security & emotions.
This crap has been going on for years, even back when I was in highschool.
Fortunately for my big mouth, big heart, & 80% the fact I was a girl, I jumped in between alot of these groups on one guy beatings & stopped them, & gave them a good moral piece of my mind.
Sad part is now guys are not afraid to beat on a woman.
Everything will get worse with time.
for every young offender who gets off from this type of crime, 10 to 15 parents should go swarm & beat their parents to show them how it feels & maybe a good swift kick might actually knock some parental smarts into them, get them to take their role as a parent more serious.

my brother's a cop and he said in pretty much every instance similar he was called to, the fruit didn't fall far from the tree...it's not just Brampton, it's everywhere unfortunately..as parents you want to haul your kids to live in the middle of nowhere to try and protect them :(

Actually, this school is one of the worst you can go to. The IB doesnt help much.
People always expect trouble to brew in inner city corridors like Jane and Finch, Regent, P.O, Rexdale, etc etc etc.
But always assume smaller towns or cities outside of Toronto to be pansie playgrounds full of hippies singing peace songs and Tella Tubbies running around hugging each other lol.
Is Compton not a suburban city on the south eastern outskirts of Los Angeles?

hmm not necessarily. I think it depends on who they hang out with, I know a couple of friends who are really smart and in uni and there brother or sisters are all thugged out doing drugs and wut not, some blame may fall on the parents but the people they hang around with play a big part as well, as for them being brown should be less on there parents, brown kids tend to be ok around there parents due to the fact that brown parents are strict its only when they get out of the house with there friend they tend to let loose since they cant at home. Peeps gotta understand that its good to have alot of friends but be smart in choosing the ones you tend to hang around with the most, following a moron makes you a moron, Too many kids now a days think life is like a rap video. There wrong there more likely gonna end up in jail then with millions with loads of gurls for being a gangsta.

While I appreciate your point of view, If a person depends on their friends to make them who they are, or define their judgement or morals, the parents went wrong somewhere.
1. Kids get away with too much & lack of parental role model at home
2. Kids have no breathing room at home, & get smacked around & yelled at without ever being taught a real moral lesson other then "cause I said so" or "respect your parents"
I am not talking about clothing or food you eat, or music or movies, every kids goes through phases & needs to fit in, but when a kid has no morals & can beat or kill another human being because his friends are doing it? means the kids parents went wrong somewhere.
The kids that they are following? their parents went wrong too.
Chances are your older friends are more mature & level headed because they were responsible at some point or another for their siblings.
Whether the parents are crappy or not, sometimes caring for another life teaches you to respect life. but sometimes they all get screwed up.
Thats the problem with parents today, they blame everything on fiddy, & Grand theft auto, & violent movies.
If you taught your kid to be an individual, taught them right from wrong, taught them that being a sheep does not make you important, taught them to be responsible for their own actions, we might be better off.
But when parents are stepping away from their role & using blame on others to cover their lack of parental skills, society will get more screwed with time.
Just cause you beat your kid into fearing you at home, does not make your kid a good kid in the real world, they are trying to escape the control.
If the parents had to start doing the time & getting tried as adults for their childs criminal acts, there would be alot more parents getting involved with their kids, & probley alot more parents seeking parenting classes & family councilling.
Wanna blame 50 cent? lets blame the parents for once & see if I am wrong.
I would be willing to appologize publicly if I were. :)

I can't think of one race that doesn't attack in swarms. It just happened to be wrong place and time for the victim. I remember at Scarborough Town Centre indians could walk in packs 3, security would just kick people out.
This is not going to get any better until the Government gives back parents the right to BEAT their kids.
My kid comes home wearing colors or talkin sh*t, he wouldn't be worried about rival gangs, he would be worried about the extreme beating he would recieve.
Just my two.

UPDATE:
Police have arrested and charged two teens with the assault on the victim. Apparently, it was NOT gang-related at all but instead, it was suppose to be a one-on-one fight between the victim and one of the alleged culprits. In the end, the victim was surprised attacked from behind, with one of the two suspects allegedly hitting his head with a crowbar.
To DAKOTA:
Finally, someone who shares my views about parenting. Even though I am not a parent myself, I work with enough youths and teens to know that the ones who have a level head on their shoulder also happen to have tremendous support and encouragement from their parent(s).
It's too easy for the PTA or some interest group to blame the media, video games, or celebs for the wrongdoings of their children. Instead, they should examine their own actions first.
I've seen to many youths parenting their parents and making outrageous demands that the parents succumb to. So what if your child isn't allowed to own his/her own car at 17years of age? So what if you don't allow him/her to go to raves or parties where you know alcohol and drugs are readily available?
For once parents, have some backbone and discipline your children. No, I'm not talking about beating them senseless (that's a different story for a different thread) but I'm talking about having the galls to say to your child, "NO."
You don't want them to watch mtv or much? Get basic cable. You don't want them to cause trouble at the malls? Go shopping with them.
I don't know when the social fabric of parenting shifted to what it is today -- but all I keep on hearing is the same old tired excuse, "hey, if I don't let my kids listen to so-and-so music, they'll just do it behind my back."
That's very possible. But what if you had engrained some discipline into your children at a very very young age? Whatever you choose to do, stop blaming others for your actions -- or in this case, perhaps lack of actions.

BEAT YOUR KIDS.
They don't fear the police and sh*t cause they are protected.
BEAT THEM ... let them call CAS. Two weeks in a foster home should clean them up.
I understand the pressures to fit in and blah blah blah blah... but kids have no bounaries anymore.
Teachers cannot disipline (even yelling at them is no longer acceptable)
Parents don't know how to say no
Police can't do anything (Stupid Legislation)
Then they all turn around and blame the media.
Its disgusting.
I always joke with my friends and tell them that when I have kids I am going to beat them on Tuesday nights, even if they don't do anything wrong. Just so they live in a little fear (or incase they got away with something).

So, the image Scarborough has now will be passed to Brampton 20 years or sooner from now.

Investigators allege the initial confrontation was between the victim and the 17-year-old.
Dozens of students from the school were at the crime scene when the fight began and it’s alleged the 18-year-old struck the victim on the back of his head with a crowbar.
"The word spread that a fight was going to happen," Favreau said.
Police said the dispute escalated after the 17-year-old allegedly pulled a handkerchief from the back pocket of the victim’s pants and then stomped on it in the hallway of the school.
Police confirmed the injured teen had only just started attending the Brampton high school.
It’s alleged the two agreed to meet at a nearby strip plaza on the southeast corner of Kennedy Rd. and Steeles Ave. to settle the score.
The injured teen was knocked unconscious and initially transported to nearby William Osler Health Centre and later transferred to Sunnybrook.
The two accused have been charged with several criminal charges, including aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
(Guys in high schools carry handkerchiefs now? :| )
Hmm... The police press release here (http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/archive/March2006/23/c5266.html) says the arrested teens weren't students at the school.

Thanks for the update.
It is just sad that this is how kids have to "settle the score" today. :(
As for the handkerchief? it was never really about that I am sure, he was a new kid, may have rubbed someone the wrong way (intentional or not)
I know in grade 8 & 9 I went through the "wigger" stage as we called it, no racial slur intended.
we would buy all colours of handkerchiefs to match our baggy clothing & put it in our back pocket, or wear it like tupac as a hair band. Funny as it seems, but so was the houser big huge tent pants (bells) lol
Another reason why I changed over to catholic uniformed highschool on my own, to not have to go through the who wears what plaque that kids seem to go through.
Now the questions these kids need to ask themselves if the young offenders act doesn't just give them a slap on the wrist, is was it worth it?
& the parents need to ask themselves what was going through their kids heads to swing a crow bar?
The kid could have died, there have been so many cases of kids getting killed, or being handicapped by head trauma, it is not like they didn't think a similar situation could have happened.
Do they not care about other human lives?
