so... I was @ indiglo/chapters today (whever they call that company). I was talking to my friend, and someone goes up to me and says " SHHH!!!"
so... do people normally keepy quiet in a book store? I mean wtf... Its a book store not a library! if you want to read the damn book in peace and quiet you BUY IT and read it @ home... NOT read it @ the store and put it back on teh shelf (probably in the wrong spot making the employees waste time finding lost books).

It's annoying when people are noisy anywhere. Unless it's suppose to be music, then it's ok.

It is ok to talk in a bookstore.... heck, they do it themselves with those annoying pages over the PA system.

I used to work in a chapter's back in high school , I tell you that place was never quiet and most of the noise coming from the starbucks area also. I have no idea why someone would SHH you , but i'd be pissed as hell if i was in a retail store and someone told me to be quiet.

We should have more quiet hockey games.

I'm always in the Starbucks at Chapters, reading and having a coffee. It does bother me when people are talking loudly, especially on cell phones, but if I wanted complete silence, I wouldn't be at Chapters.
If they wanted silence, they should go to the library, or to a independent Starbucks, which I find less busy and quieter.
So long as you're not yelling, I think that is alright.

Perfectly fine to talk as usual in a bookstore. Next time someone says "SHHH!!" in the bookstore, tell them you'll grant their request if they can show you their "Chapters Library Card."

You should have SHHHH'ed them back and then kept on talking.

It's ok to talk as long as you're not extremely loud. But that person is rude

up hers! if she has an issue with your level of noise, go talk to someone who works there and they can decide if you're causing a disruption in the store and deal with it if they feel you are. People like that drive me crazy, nothing better to do...you should have directed them to the nearest library.
