Sorry, it only took me one try. I felt like the tester was giving me a lot of breaks though...... I know others have had harsher evaluators. Luck of the draw I guess. Did they tell you what you did wrong?
Practice a bit and go for it again!!!! No worries!!

G1 - First attempt - Walkey, Ottawa
G2 - First attempt - Walkley, Ottawa
G - First attempt - Smiths Falls
The guy on my G2 was a d*ck. Was upset that I was taking my time.
The lady on my G was awesome. Smiths Falls is a good place to go if there's a long wait at Walkley or anywhere else in Ottawa.

I aced my G2, got a perfect score down in Oakville. Maybe it was luck, maybe it was a good a nice evaluator, I think it was the snow storm the day before. I was allowed to drive really slow and make a 4 point turn instead of 3 because of the snow banks.

G2 Vic Park (scored okay)
G Vic Park (did very well)
AND so relieved not to have failed either. They're stressful as hell and I am glad I never have to go through them again. I really do sympathize with people who do fail because of nerves, jackass examiner, etc.

Don't beat yourself over it. Most people fail their first time, it is more common than not to get it on the 2nd try.

I always say mistakes so what. It's how we learned from mistakes that is the most important. Just do it again and breath normally throughout the exam.

G1 (John Rhodes, Brampton) - First Try
G2 (John Rhodes, Brampton) - First Try
G (John Rhodes, Brampton) - First Try
I don't know if this is true, but apparently its easier to pass in the morning cuz the examiners are not all annoyed and cranky from a day of potential bad drivers. I took all 3 tests in the morning. First or 2nd one to leave the test lot.

G1 - read one page in the book and barely passed but I got 4 wrong on one test and 3 wrong on the other test. Was enough to pass.
G2 - Failed the first time, had some evil lepercaun bastard
G2 - Second test the instructor was high I think so anybody could have passed
G - passed that with flying colours. It was crazy easy. The only thing I did wrong was I took my foot off gas before I exited the highway.
Did all my test in St. Catharines

G2 I took in Clinton, Ontario. (No 401 portion of the test). June 1997. Not to be stereotypical but the thing about larger people being more jolly is true. I had a rather large man do my test. He was super nice and could hardly fit in my car. Passed first time.
Weekend before my G test I took an extra 3 hour session of in-car drivers ed to make sure I was up to snuff on all my driving things. Very glad I did, it really helped. There were a few little details that I had forgotten about or wasn't doing correctly.
G test was in Sarnia, Ontario. December 1999. I had, what I though, was a sturn, (he was thin and tall) young man (like mid 30s). But he was rather nice as well. I nearly rear-ended a truck on a "when it's safe and only safe" described lane change; no less than 3 minutes into the test. But I did not let that hinder me:
1. Responce to situations is something they are looking for.
2. I wanted to show confidence in my driving skills. (Not cockyness of course) ...even if I was uber nervous.
3. My test. Paid with my money.
Even with the incident above, I passed my G test first try.
Driving is very technical so be sure to treat it that way. You'll do fine. :)
My advice, take you time, pretend your tester is just a friend (to relax nerves), and just drive normally. Getting to uptight or nervous can cause minor goofs and even lead you to a sence of failure even if you did nothing wrong. Try try try until the test is over. Only care about pass/fail once the car is parked. :)
Good luck next time!

I still need to take mine. It's been more than a year since I finished my driving lessons and I havent driven at all in the past 8 months since I dont have a car here at school. I'm planning on taking the G2 sometime during the summer, and I'm debating whether I should take a few extra lessons from a driving school. I mean its cheaper to take a few extra lessons than to redo the test. But what kind of prep would you guys recommend?

Mar 21st, 2006, 10:13 PM
Passed every time on my first time, though I remember on my G test, I had a feeling the instructer was looking for anyreason to fail me, the test went for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Only had 1 mistake, didnt look enough on a school crossing, other then that, aced it.
Only advice I give is not to be nervous, pretend your driving with a friend and you will pass.

i dont think so. i think the retest is about 40 dollars and think lessons are more than that. it mite help regardless b/c if u havent driven in 8 months (gonna be a yr by then), youll be pretty rusty

Overall, it wasn't all that difficult, as long as you've got practice and do those small things they look for (ie: looking left/right through intersections etc..) they really shouldn't be any problem.

I went to take my G test at Victoria Park this week ... when I showed up (9:30) for my 10:00AM test, they told me the test was scheduled for 9AM and that I was 30 minutes late.
I booked the test over the phone. I paid by credit card over the phone.
Why is that I have no confirmation bill, nothing sent to me, nothing in writing to prove this one way or another. I say 10, they tell me 9.
I'm against the time here because my license is good until the end of the year. I booked another test but now it's for December. Another $75.
This time I got them to put in writing (since I was paying in person) and even this was a problem. The guy said they don't usually do that and I'm like yeah, like I'm going to keep paying you guys over and over and over.
Honestly, I'll fight for my money but in this situation, I honestly don't know who's right and who's wrong. Maybe I was mistaken, but where would I get 10AM from? I don't know, I'm over it.
It's just nice to find that no one cares at the office and they give YOU the attitude. Black lady at the desk in the back is a nut case.
"Could you please form a line" every time I'm back there ... friggin' nut bag ... you could tell she really loved her job

I still have to go for my G2...the problem I had is that every time I was about to go for my test I had something bad happen the week before and had to cancel.
Once I hurt my arm and couldn't drive.
Then signed up again for the test and had to cancel....was in the hospital for something that came up as an emergency.
I was actually going to try and sign up again....but I just had surgery on my arm today.....so will have to wait a couple months before practicing :(

[QUOTE=Zapzoid;5932879]...lol i failed twice on my g2 at aurora, guy was a jerk...
Damn that same thing happened to me at Aurora for my G.
G2 I passed the first try, G took me 3 tries...coz I HAD THE SAME GUY TWICE.
The first time I failed at Aurora I argued with the guy just before finishing up the test. It was a simple right turn and I saw a huge truck moving about 60-70 km/hour as he was approaching the intersection (abt 50m away). I stopped and waited for the truck to pass and then made my right turn, that jerk said I could've turned b4 the truck and I said no coz I thought it was safer to wait. I made no mistakes and checked my blind spots for the entire test but he still failed me. Then I asked him why I failed he said somethin' like you should've turned right before the truck and I was like...wtf!!
The second time I had him again and I hit the curb lightly on parallel parking then he failed me again, no complains it was my bad for going on the curb.
Third time it was a lady seemed really nice and was quiet the entire trip and I drove like how I drove on my first test, passed.

For me it's kinda weird, I failed the easier test rather then the harder ones haha
G1 - Failed twice (got 15/20 on the MC both times, then 3rd time passed with 16/20), although I passed the signs part the first time
G2 - Passed 1st try (Morningside)
G - Passed 1st try (Morningside)

G1 - 3 tries (I never bought the book)
G2 - first try
Burlington
Well considering the knowledge test is $10 a pop, you would have saved like $17.50 if you did lol

g2 - passed barely (made tons of mistakes)...vic park

g - on my 2nd attempt, guess what? same black woman!??!! I was like WTF LMAO WTH ACK OMFG ROXORS !##!@?!. So I said her, "Oh I am so lucky to have you again, hopefully you'll go easy on me this time". and she gave me a blank expressionless look....morningside

Don't be.
I failed my G2 @ Oakville . Twice.
and my licence is expiring soon....nOOOOOO
The way the graduated licensing system is designed is nothing more than a cash grab.
If your license expires you get the privledge of starting all the way from step 1.
I personally don't understand how you can have a (is it G2?) drive all over the place, fail a test and then have your license expire, then have to go all the way back to the start.
My wife went through this, and it has been a frustrating experience.
I am so glad I never had to contend with the cash grab called graduated licensing.

Well I don't understand how people complain about expired licences. They give you 5 years to complete the thing. That is more than enough.

1 try for each: G1 (age: 16), G2 (age: 16), & G (age 17). I passed the G1 20/20.
I went to Guelph for my G2 & G. It was awfully simple. G2: I just did one 3-pt turn. For the G: I just did one uphill parking. No parallel parking at all :D (although I can do one no problem). The whole test lasted about 5-10 minutes for each.

i remember a few years back...my hockey teammate had failed his G1 7 times =\
Did this teammate even try to read the book? If you paid attention when your parents were driving (provided they are decent drivers), the G1 test is passable/almost passable without any preparation at all. My roommate failed her G1 the first time because her parents don't drive and she barely ever gets into a car.
Furthermore, if you try driving PROPERLY all the time like you would on the G test, then you don't actually need to "practice" before the test. AFTER you get your G license - then is the time to start picking up bad habits.
G1, G2, G all passed on the first try in London.

Passed easily on the first attempt for all three tests.
I agree that if you fail three times, you should be banned from driving.

Once for G2,
Twice for G.
I agree... if you failed your G2 more than twice you should be banned. I was out driving this morning and there was like a lineup of cars on Finch because the guy in the front was driving 50 in the passing lane... while theres a bus on the other -__-

Failed my G, doing it again at morning side. Too subjective!
Regards to the G1, theres a book in the pacific mall Plaza, its in chinese with English as well and it is the exact copy of the examination. There are roughly about 4 to 5 versions of the test I finished it the actual test in one minute. Answers and Questions were word for word and the book is about 10 dollars. Definitley worth the investment over the official handbook that is thicker than my Accounting textbook

I passed the first time I got a G2, it wasn't too bad, a bit nervous, but good enough.

I failed my first G1 attempt for splashing a pedestrian. In order to avoid splashing him I would have had to swerve in to oncoming traffic or slowed to a near stop on a busy road. Oh well, bad luck I guess :D
G went fine..which is a good thing because getting my license that day was a condition for a summer job I had been offered at a car rental place.

G1(Some toronto location)-->Pass on 1st try
G2( Kitchener ottawa street location)--> Pass on 1st try,
G (Kitchener ottawa street location)--> Pass on 1st try.
took my G test last month, got a nice examiner. We had a nice conversation and I did not have to do parallel parking nor 3 point turn. Just lane change once going to victoria street and lane change again once back to ottawa street. And i did not have to do reverse parking when i got back to the centre. She was in a rush for time as she was behind by an hour and she said i drive fine so i should be ok.

I'm 22 and I've failed my G2 twice. I REALLY want my license (you have NO IDEA) but after I moved to Ottawa I haven't been able to find anyone to help me practive (my total number of hours driving a car is less than 15). So yeah... I'll probably end up losing my G1 and taking the bus the rest of my life :(
