Hey folks , I'm in the process of purchasing my 3rd vehicle now. This is probably going to be the most expensive yet. I've checked out Collection Fine Cars in downsview at finch and dufferin area. I just went in to look around and see what they got. I'm pretty interested in this one car but I had to leave before I was able to fully talk to a salesman. Anyways anyone ever dealt with them? And how did it go? What kind of bargaining room did they give you?

A lot of cars you find on shady lots are accident cars. Just buy the car from a private seller, it's safer.

i guess you might think from their corporate logo and website that they SEEM to be a reputable dealer... but everything I've heard about them is that they're just as shady as the cheap-ass here-today-gone-tomorrow used car lots...
I'm currently also looking for a used car, but I'm staying faaaaar away from The Collection ;)
Hey, I can point you at an Acura dealership who's currently trying to sell a serious accident car, so you can't really trust ANY dealer ;)

LOL...that's terrible and the worst thing is that some of the most crooked dealers I know are Acura ones... :(

Thanks for the good advice , i'm suprised that even dealerships can be shady but with an extended warranty plan i think it might be still a good route to go.

Yeah but I am pretty sure they have been around for at least 4 years, I went to check them out before I got my car and I have had my car for 4 years now!!!

!DO NOT BUY FROM "THE COLLECTION"!
I will list a few responses from my home car club regarding The Collection and then detail my own experience.
from others:
- "i went browing for vehicles over a year ago with my mother at "The Collection"... well they paid attention to her firstly because of my age(discrimination!) Funny, since I was the one looking for a vehicle.... and holding the buying power.
Secondly, the prices there are absurd. And I don't want to bust any b***s, however, the salesperson we had, which shall remain nameless, was the most disorganized and unconvincing salesperson ever. His OMVIC should be revoked. And they really don't know anything about there vehicles. If 90% of the vehicles on the floor are modded and you ask a question... he pretty much stared blankly.
And I'm not your regular uninformed gal.... I know more about vehicles then most of them do. All in all I was in there looking at Honda's(I know, I know ) but it left a terrible "used car shopping" taste in my mouth... plus they were all very sketchy and mysterious there at the time that I went in.
There's more about when they were trying to cut me a deal... but I'll leave that out. It was a joke of an experience, through and through..."
- "yeah last time i was there they were selling a 01 gt with rims and intake with 50km for 23, and they tried to tell me it was a gts swap into a gt. clearly they dont know that this is not honda and there is a visual difference between a gt and a gts engine. so thats my pathetic little story about them."
- "is this dealership is near by wendys? if it is i have a bad experience with them... i will never go there anymore..." (they basically told him the celica was never in an accident, owner later found out it was and had severe frame damage, the collection wouldn't talk to him afterwards)
Now my story:
I had a heavily modified Celica GT-S for sale last year and no buyers. The plan was to sell/trade in the car and pick up a new G35 Coupe. One Infiniti dealer considered the trade in and asked to see the celica, but sadly refused since it was too modified and would be a tough sell for them. I looked through autotrader.ca and noticed "The Collection" was selling alot of modified vehicles, so got in contact with them. Fast forward >> the celica was traded in for a brand new G35 coupe. I called up the contact person, *name removed*, to get a quote on the 3M Chipguard (clear bra). Few days later the car arrived and the trade in was to take place. The sales manager and I argued for a little before he spoke to the owner and gave in. He claimed I owed him the $350 or so for the 3M Chipguard, but I did not authorize the purchase, just asked for a quote earlier on! Anyways the trade was done.
A few days later, I asked again for a hard copy receipt of the Chipguard (for warranty purposes) and the sales agent said the request had already been sent to Doner Infiniti in Newmarket and it was mailed out (BS). The sales agent then said he needs all the celica's original parts in order to certify the car so it can be sold. Knowing he was BS'ing about the receipt and hearing about other horror stories regarding the Collection, I told the agent he will get the parts when the receipt arrives.
Conclusion: receipt never arrived, the Collection never got the original parts, they managed to sell the celica 3 weeks later. Luckily the G35 is brand new, otherwise I would *never* buy a used car from them!!
edit: The Collection never asked me for a complete modifications list regarding the Celica - thus they never knew 100% of the mods on the car being sold.

when going through the free auto mart magazines, i always notice that majority of the cars they have, have many aftermarket items. i.e. rims, bodykits, lights. leads me to believe that these veichles were salvaged and parts replaced with aftermarkets (less $$$) buyer beware.
