I have a late 1980s General Motors car that I'm looking to get the dealer service manual for. Is there any way to get this cheaply?
I need to fix a power window and Haynes isn't cutting it.

eBay possibly?
If you're that desperate, I'm sure your local stealership can rip you off with one of them :D

Lol, yeah, the key is cheap. If I pay a couple of hundred bucks for it that's well more than the car is worth. :cheesygri I was just wondering if they were available anywhere unofficially on the net or if there were local shops that might sell it cheap.

If ya make good buddies w/ the guy at the service desk, maybe he can let you borrow a mechanic's copy :D
ebay is the best bet, what vehicle/year?

I just looked on Ebay, everything looks to be at least 40 or 50 bucks. Don't wanna borrow it, probably won't do this til spring when the weather is nicer. Maybe the Toronto Library has it, I'll check.

Oh man, these service manuals suck.
I tried looking thru my dad's '89 Fleetwood manual and woahhh it's soo hard to find anything. There's no index and when I look under Electrical, it only tells me about the electrical diagram, and about diagnostics of the motors, nothing about removal or installation :( Must be in another section..
And yeah this is the OE made by Caddy service manual. Fairly thick with fairly thin paper (compared to a Chiltons/Haynes)
Edit: Nevermind, there WAS an index, but apparently it's gone :(

even at $50 they are well worth it if you are going to be doing any work to the car. (you'll get more use out of it then most $100+ textbooks.)
