Hi,

Is there any way I can remove the Rust Killer (by Rust Check) coating I applied on my vehicle without damaging the underlying paint job?

I just recently (two days ago) applied a thin coating on areas that are showing some rust formation (front end of the hood). It's not aesthetically appealing having applied a gray coating over a burgundy car but it is a small strip on the hood.

I have a red/burgundy touch up paint but the color difference would be noticeable. I was wondering whether to remove this coating and reapply them more carefully this time, or should I just leave the coating and use the touch up paint to paint it red/burgundy again.

Thanks for the suggestions and advices.

bump - will rubbing compound take this primer coating off or is there another less abrasive way to remove the coating?

thanks.

why would u apply primer on top of paint?
isn't it suppose to be the other way around
wet sand will get it off but it may also strip your paint

The instruction called for spraying the rusted portions with the rust inhibiting primer without the need to sand the rusted portions. I overdid the spraying and want some portions of the primer taken out. :)

bump.

I have been able to scrape the primer off the paint, albeit at a slow pace. Any ideas on what tool to use besides my finger nails or a credit card (or the likes) to avoid scratching the underlying paint?

stupid me!!!

Use something made out of wood, pref. soft wood, it shouldn't scratch than.
