Nope. (as long as there is an available drive bay)

yep, it's easy. once you've done it one time, everytime after that is similar.

only tricky thing is making sure the jumpers are set properly and you have the master/slave ide cable on the right drives.

He's asking about a floppy drive, not IDE :confused:

Connect the power cable to the drive. One end of the ribbon cable has some twisted wires. That end connects to the drive and the other end to the motherboard connector.

It's hard for me, both of my video cards take away the only floppy power cable I have :(


When I need to use my floppy drive I have to install my old creative 32mb pci video card

Your graphic cards use the same power connector as floppy drives?!

Anyhow, there are adaptor for changing regular 4 pins molex to the small one FDD use

yeah it does, and its really annoying. my 9600 and 9800 pro both use my FD power connector.

I was looking at an adapter but I rarely use my FD. Perhaps once a year to flash the bios

After picking up a USB floppy, I can finally rid myself of having to install floppy drives on my current and future systems.

Older mobos doesn't boot from USB drives :(

I am going to factory to direct to buy one, remove bay from system.
Slot in and hook up and thats it!!!

Here are the spec...I have a cd rom and a dvd burner

Drive bays (total)
Bay type Quantity
5.25-inch, external Two (occupied)
3.5-inch, external Two (one available)
3.5-inch, internal One (occupied)

what is the differnece between internal and external???
