So Im getting married in June and I'm looking for a decent quality suit. I've checked out all the mall stores and have the feeling that they work by ripping off their customers. Does anyone know where I can get a good suit and related accessories (shirt, shoes, etc) in the GTA? I don't want to rent since I'd be dropping about $200 for a temporary fix and I'd like to own a quality suit for once. Store names, suit brands, and approximate price ranges would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You're getting married and u don't own a suit?

U get what u pay for. If you want cheap, go to Moores.

If you want a nice suit, try Tom's Place in Kensington Market

He has a 3 for 1 special on suits, plus $100 off whith attached coupon.
Keep in mind, its probably 3 for $1000.

go to Harry Rosen, the one by Heartland in Mississauga. They have really nice suits and a wicked staff, you'll get the right suit for you.
And they have outlet prices, so you're not paying crazy $$.

I picked up a complete set; versace suit, Boss shirt, tie, shoes & even SOCKS! and it all came to $1465 after the sales man was nice enough to offer me 10% discount (since we're both brown :D )

That 10% discount is always there just look for the newspaper clippings. But yeah. You can't go wrong there.

I got like Boss ties for like 55 bones.

Personally I like the service in the non outlet store but with the $ I save I could care less.

Thanks for the input. mlc - I do own two suits, but one is a $100 funeral suit from 5 years ago and the other is a blue one I use for interviews. So I'm looking for a nice, formal getup. I'm going to check out Tom's soon since the ridiculous 3-for-1 could be useful if a couple of other people involved need a suit. I've been to mall-based Harry Rosens and think that for the money I can do better. I'll check out the outlet though since it may be better. As for the rental suggestions, I know its the cheapest option, but I'm still going to try and buy a suit before I rent one - at least then I'll have a suit for my own funeral or a second marriage. Lol.... I'd be killed if the pre-wife saw that comment. (edit: or the term 'pre-wife'.)

yeah, don't worry about Tom's ads. And frankly, the flyer isn't likely going to be of much help (bring it anyways, just in case).

What you need to understand about Tom's is that it's really more like two stores under one roof.
[1] The ground level is a discount store. You can get medium quality & end-of-line stuff for quite cheap. The sales folks downstairs are a bit lame, a bit unmotivated, but if you know what you want and are patient enough... like many discount stores, you just might stumble on something.
[2] The upstairs is a premium store, and when people talk about how great Tom's is, this is what they are talking about. You are going to get product/experience comparable to Harry Rosen's best, for a lot less. You're not going to get a suit for $99, but you are going to get a hell of a nice suit for $400-800 (depends what you want).

On another note, there is a nice place in my neighborhood - Acapella, St Clair & Christie - that gets suits custom made for you quite reasonably ($600ish+). There are a couple of nice custom places on the Danforth as well.
