-~=}GPU block is gone... but I will still sell the CPU block along with the meanwell power supply - asking $175.00 for those 2 pieces together.{=~-

Sorry folks, but I have offers from a few people from the US, so I am giving you, my fellow Canadians and RFD'rs, until Monday night to take this off of my hands, otherwise I am letting it go to the high bidder from south of the border. Also, the price here on this forum is cheaper than what it is selling for other places... I would prefer to have it sell to a fellow Canadian.

OK... I have 2 TEC/Peltier water blocks for sale, along with the meanwell power supply to power them.

first up is a Swiftech 5000 series 226watt/12volt peltier cooled CPU block - this block was originally made to fit only Intel socket 478, but I have had a custom-made mounting plate made for it so that it now will work perfectly with AMD socket 754/939/940 - and the original mounting plate comes along with it so it can go back to fitting Intel CPU's.

{SOLD -I also have a Swiftech MCW50-T, 80watt/12volt peltier cooled video card water block. This will fit almost all ATI cards and a lot of Nvidia (FX5700 and older) cards, and it can also be upgraded to fit the newer Nvidia cards as well with a cheap mounting kit available from Swiftech or many online stores.-SOLD}

Lastly, to power the blocks, I have a meanwell S-300-12 power supply.
It is 12volts (adjustable up to 15 using the dial on the back), 300 watts and puts out about 30 amps.

All the parts have been tested and are guaranteed to work and the will fit 1/2" ID tubing and the bases have all been hand-lapped to 1500grit and then polished with a polishing compound.

I never ended up using them in my system as I decided to go bigger - I have went with a Wintsch Labs 437watt/24volt peltier CPU block and have modified a video card block and went with a 170watt/24volt peltier for it.

****
I am asking $175.00 OBO, plus shipping to anywhere at buyers expense for the last 2 parts - the CPU block and the PSU
I will also entertain trades as well... I am looking for a good AGP card, ram, SATA hard drives, dual heater cores, thermochill or Black Ice triple rads - may be interested in other trades as well... possibly an X2-3800 CPU
****

You will need to get or make gaskets for the CPU block (I would suggest making them yourself... they are so simple and easy to make, or you can get them from bigfootcomputers.com, or other online stores), and get your own silicone and dielectric grease, and maybe a can of conformal coating.

I never got a chance to use them, but I have a friend running the same blocks and he keeps his Opteron 144, overclocked to just over 3GHz, at about 5* Celsius under full load, and is about -5* Celsius at idle... and the video card block keeps an X800 pro running right at around 0 under full load.

I can't and won't guarantee or promise what kind of temps you will get, since that is completely dependant on the rest of your cooling system, but I suggest a good rad (120.2 or better) and pump :cheesygri - the colder you can keep the blocks, the better the peltiers perform and colder they will make the processors, so a good rad is a must to get the best performance - a 120.2 would be the smallest I would reccomend, or even better, a heater core or 120.3 thermochill or black ice. For my 437watt peltier block I use 2 x dual heater cores and it works awesome!

here are some pics

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c78/northwizard/purple%20system/swiftech%20pelt%20kit/swiftech-pelt-kit001.jpg

The blocks have been painted purple to match the build I was/am doing, but they can be very easily painted to any colour you want them to be - that is no big deal.

I have the mounting hardware for the AMD setup and also have the mounting for the video card block as well (threaded rods, nuts, washers, springs), so aside from gaskets (the vid card block has gaskets on it which should be just fine), it is basically plug and play.

I have a bit of heat under - NortHWizarD
and have dealt with a few people from this forum, and I am very well knowm on some other forums. I also have over 100 positive feedbacks on Ebay (http://feedback.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=northwater_xtreme_pc_cooling&iid=)... a perfect record

I will take EMT, cash, non-cc paypal, or money orders. I live just west of Hamilton and do not mind if you want to come pick it up.

Also, check below for the results of my testing of the peltier system (it is also my last post as well)

you can contact me through here or by EMAIL (northwater@northwizard.com)

Thanks for looking, and BumPs are greatly appreciated!

Update -

I put the cpu block on an Opteron 144 and Soltek board (made my own gaskets) last night just to test things out, using a Black Ice Extreme 120.2 rad with 2 70cfm 120mm fans, and was getting an average of 2* Celsius with an overclock of 250FSB/1.5volts (this motherboard is NOT the best overclocker LOL)

The system works great, and I will toss in the gaskets I made, which work perfectly... absolutely 0 condensation!

To make your own gaskets, here is what I did I took an old mousepad... the one with the cloth top and foam underside... ripped the cloth off and bingo... *perfect* gasket foam! I have been doing peltier cooling for quite some time now and all I use, most of the time, is vaseline instead of silicone and dielectric grease - vaseline is 100% NON-conductive and is also an insulator as well and provides an air-tight seal between the gaskets etc., and is also easy to remove if need be.

How else can you get temps down near 0 degrees Celsius for this type of money! Think of the overclocks with a good CPU and good motherboard!!!

Just as I was thinking "hmm would be nice add a pelt to my rig", this thread shows up.

Too bad its bloody expensive!

NortHWizarD
Mar 14th, 2006, 08:22 AM
it's not expensive... feel free to add up what it costs for a meanwell psu, and both of those blocks... don't forget to factor in what it costs for a custom machined mounting plate and replacing the 80 watt gpu peltier with a brand new one... well, I did some of the foot work for ya -

The meanwell is 160$ CAD, the cpu block is 130$ CAD and the gpu block is 85$ - yeah, those are brand new prices (not including taxes either) and these parts are not brand new... so I have adjusted the prices accordingly... plus all the stuff is tested and guaranteed to be working, and if you know anything about peltiers, you would know that the performance does NOT degrade over time/use - they work or they do not - so used does NOT affect performance.
The only difference between mine and new is that you would get stamped gaskets with them, bfd - you can make your own or buy them from bigfoot computers if you are no good with an exacto knife or razor blade... also the blocks would be the stock blue colour that swiftech uses - again, don't like the colour? change it... it's what moddin' and doing this stuff is all about anyways.
You also would only be able to use the CPU block on one single type of processor... with mine it can be either the AMD socket 754/939/940 OR Intel socket 478 - the AMD mounting plate was custom machined for me out of 1/4" aluminum to fit the CPU block perfectly and also the AMD mounting holes and then polished - it is extremely sturdy and will NOT flex like OEM plates made by Swiftech and others.... it is not some dremeled out, hack job - I had planned on using this stuff for one of my own rigs, so it was done right... also, the 80watt peltier in the video card block is BRAND NEW - I replaced it as soon as I got it - I have 3 more brand new spares sitting here.
I am not new to this stuff, so I know what I am doing and would only sell worthwhile and guaranteed to be working stuff.... but if it is to expensive... then obviously, peltier cooling is not for you... you will be very hard pressed to find all this stuff anywhere cheaper - but go for it... please don't yank on my thread about prices... if it is too expensive look someplace else, but keep your price complaining type comments to yourself.

the 'only' reason I am not using this is that I have a 24 volt, 437watt Wintsch Labs-Arctic Web Peltier CPU block now... I went with the biggest and baddest Peltier cooling block ever made - and i got the Wintsch Labs before I had a chance to even install and use this stuff, but for the sake of testing and making sure, I installed and tested the stuff 2 nights ago so that I would be able to guarantee that they are working for whoever buys them.

did you notice the OBO?

Thanks for the bump though

-~=}{NortH}{=~-

PS: Will toss in a relay for the meanwell psu as well if needed

Shame I just got a Storm G4 block. I could sandwich a pelt in there... wonder if it will work better then the ancient swifty 5000 ;)

If on load cpu temp is ~5C for an opty 144@3.0, i wonder hot would my opty 165@3.0 be.

Right now, with an undervolted Iwaki MD30RZ, storm G4, BIX2 and a single heatercore I get 40C max load and 30C idle - need to remove the IHS methinks :)

Right now, with an undervolted Iwaki MD30RZ, storm G4, BIX2 and a single heatercore I get 40C max load and 30C idle - need to remove the IHS methinks :)

My water cooled system, with a TDX on my 3700 (clocked at 2.75/1.6volts) and Silverprop Fusion HL on my ATI X850XT-PE, with a ploarflo TT/D4 pump and single BIX 120.2 rad, is getting 28 at idle and 34 under full load... and that is with an ambient/room temperature of 23-24 degrees Celsius on average... now if the room were to be at a more normal and lower temp, around 20... I would have a hard time hitting 30 under full load.

As for the peltier block temps, with a better rad it would easily be 0 or under - I just whipped it together on the bench to do a little testing to make sure all was good.
And you really won't see any better temps from a G4 with a pelt compared to the Swiftech, or any other block for that matter... the Storm concentrates it's cooling right in the center, right over the die... with a peltier, you need to cool the whole plate evenly - the storm is an amazing and the best water cooling block out there, but it is not the greatest for peltier cooling because of the way it is designed, and designed to be so great at cooling a cpu die. I have slapped a 226 on a Storm already and found it was not better, it was actually a little worse than standard pins/fins where the water is cooling the whole plate more evenly.
But you definitely have the best block for water cooling that money can buy... Cathar is DaMan! :)

If you need a cold plate to change the block over to peltier, let me know... I have a brand new cold plate here or can custom make you one.

OK... If any of you are interested, time to decide... I have 4 offers on it right now, but would prefer to sell it to someone here in Canada, preferrably in Ontario, so I going to give my fellow RFD'rs until Monday to decide... if it doesn't sell on here by Monday night, then I have to let it go to the highest offer from south of the border.
And, the offer is actually for more than I am asking here on RFD... but since I have bought and sold here, and it is basically a local/Canadian site... I am giving preferrence and a cheaper price to RFD people/Canadians.
