Well I ordered 2 x 2005fpw monitors. I got the first two and they had backlighting issues.
I called the rep, she said this is not common and the replacements will be sent out.
I go the new 2 monitors sent out to me........ They have worse backlight than the first.
I called the rep and he said it's a known issue. He said he would send two more. He told me to keeps all 4 until I get the new ones.
HOW MANY SETS IS IT GOING TO TAKE TO GET A GOOD PAIR :(??? I HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED LOOKING A DEAD PIXELS YET?

Okay, if the next 2 come, you have to hook all 6 to one computer somehow and take a pic of it just to trump people in the "Post your workspace" threads. ;)

Is this backlight bleeding issue really that common? When I got mine from Dell US, it was perfect no backlight bleeding nor dead pixels (Manufacturered Oct/05) and my buddy who got one during the first Days of Deals last year also got one with no problems.
Or is this just a case where the people who are dissatisfied make it seem likeit is a bigger problem than it really is? Just wondering here.

Hey Jacka ;) long time no talk...
For backlight bleeding you just have to turn out all the lights in your room and have a pitch black screen on the monitor, like having a blank screensaver. Then just check the corners/sides for bright blotches. It looks like light leaking from the corners and it isn't as dark in these areas.
I believe the problem with most people and their 2005FPW's is that they hear about the backlight bleeding, and they think that if they see any kind of bleeding at all, it's a dud and they want a replacement.
THERE WILL BE BACKLIGHT BLEEDING ON EVERY SINGLE LCD ON THE MARKET! ESPECIALLY THE 2005FPW!
Sometimes it's worse, sometimes it's hardly noticable. Every 2005FPW has it and if it's quite faint and not really really bad as in you are watching a dark scene in a movie and it bothers you because you can see the light leaking in the corners, then you should keep it. You aren't going to get perfect, especially after going through almost 6 monitors. It's absolutely ridiculous... I can't believe for one minute that at least one of those has tolerable backlight bleeding.
Personally, I bought mine second hand off eBay and got pictures taken of it before I purchased it. There was bleed, but it wasn't as bad as some of the horror pics on the net so I bought it.... I am never bothered by the very slight bleed whatsoever, and understand that even with bleed it's still one of the better ones and it's also from the A01 batch which were the first revisions and they HAVE gotten better.
