Computer being hacked?

While using my computer today, I noticed that one of the drives on my computer where I keep all my movies, comics and mp3 was being shared on our network (like how you share it when going to "properties", "sharing and security").

But there is no way that I shared that drive since i recently formatted and havent done much with my computer. Another folder that was also shared was my C:\windows\system32 folder; which is also a folder that wouldnt be shared.

After this, i tried to change my password, but it wouldn't let me. I also tried removing the password, but that also didnt work.

So right now, it definitely feels like someone is hacking my comptuer. What I find weird is that they would share my movies, comics and mp3z. As if they particularly wanted those files???

Would my password be hackable if they had accesss to my system32? any thoughts on if i'm being hacked? or am i just going crazy?

I think you are just going crazy... just joking.. :D No, really.. it does sound strange.

I will recommend for you to disconect from the internet, reboot your system.. set all the sharing properties the way you want them.. (as in.. not sharing the drives you don't want to share)... Change your passwords. Scan your system for trojans/malware/spyware. Make sure your firewalls are all up and running (I imagine you have the XP firewall.. your router firewall plus a third party one). Then you can connect to the internet again.

Thanks for the help. Its still not letting me reset my pw. I'm not sure why. I'm using the right password, since I can log into my comp.

In addition, when i go to the "user accounts" section, it list the different user. It shows: mint(adminstrator), guest, and ".net passport"?? I'm not sure what the .net one is? it seems like its the microsoft passport thing, but i'm not sure why its a user on there. I've removed it now, but was just curious how it got there.

use a pw recovery program ( like a linx boot disk ) and reset the master pw to one of your chosing. then reboot and you should have acess to your computer back .

search the forums for xp pw recovery i am sure its been posted here like 20 times.

trojans, back door and etc... they can penetrate firewalls... or someone else installed it on his comp b4 hand
