i was looking to picking that up from the source for about $900 and they'd throw in 3 months free of rogers [express?] internet. in the end i opted for a dell inspiron 6000. for about $50 more, no tax. but there was no internet.

My friend bought that laptop recently. Seems okay for $900. It's a bit bare on the inputs but if you don't need those then it's fine. The built is a bit cheap but not bad.

Acer's junk man. From what I read, they left Canada users high and dry and rebranded as BenQ. When that didn't work they returned selling cheapo laptops in Staples & Radioshack for $800. Who are you going to call if it breaks? They don't have a dedicated repair factory here anymore. Someone said this on RFD too.

In Asia, yes they're great but in Canada...follow our peers' points and beware
