I dont like Shell anyway. When I ordered home heating oil I phoned Shell and asked if they gave airmiles on home heating oil. They said they would but their system wasn't set up for it. They were going to keep records and when they dealt with the issue, they would credit the airmiles. That was at our local bulk Shell oil nearby. Lies, Lies and Lies!!!!!!! No Airmiles and no intentions on doing what they said. Never got the oil anyway. Well not from them!

I really didn't know that people still got heating oil. I live in the west, no one uses heating oil, just ridiculously priced natural gas:)

No airmiles due to low volume/low competition compare to consumer gasoline. It's not like you get airmiles with your other utilities anyway.

If you're a CAA member, the Sunoco/CAA deal may still be better, depending on what you use your Air Miles for;

$100 in Shell gas = 10 Air Miles with this promo. Those miles have a value of $.114 if you use them for more Shell gas, meaning your reward value for $100 is $1.14. If you use them for Shell car washes, it's actually a very good deal, as the value of a mile then is $.306, and your $100 in gas gets you a $3.06 value.

With the CAA card at Sunoco, as long as you spend over $1200/year, you get 2% back, so $100 of gas there is worth $2.

If you really want to look for high reward, buy Canadian gift card and get weekly CT gas coupon multiplier from the flyer or stores. For $100 gas, you can easily get $5 CT money (with the worst multiplier). If you can get discounted CT gift card, it will even be better.

Not quite my friend. I am upset because they said they were going to go through with the airmiles once they updated or whatever their system which was a blatant lie as they had no intentions of dealiing with the airmiles for home heating oil anyway. There was no offer of any written guarantee. I can't be bothered with a company that tells yyou one thing and simply has no intention of following through. Its a matter of "telling the customer what they want to hear" in order to get the business. I can do without! A year later and still no airmiles. If it is a fact as one other poster said, there are no airmiles on such a purchase, well then just say so. I would have probably still got the oil from them.

Yes, I live in the west too on the island. I had Teresen Gas in the Okanagan and I will never have gas again. Dangerous and highly expensive. For a waste product, those people charge whatever they want. My home heating oil is paid for upfront so there are no surprises.

The title of the thread "Shell Easy pay key.. free air miles." is misleading. There is no "free" air miles. You have to buy something, in fact 5 transactions of at least $20 each, to get 5 BONUS air miles. The title should say "bonus".

You get the bonus airmiles automatically without having to deal with the coupons. Not that the number of miles I get from Shell amount to that much anyway, but I've been using easy pay for a long time and I always have regular and bonus miles on my airmiles statements.

It's kinda the same deal with sunoco, not everyone needs CAA (mine is covered by my credit card) so the CT deal wouldn't be bad because you can use the coupons to get more gas!

I think this is a great promo, just signed up actually. Since I use Shell anyways and end up scanning both my airmiles and credit card in the freezing cold, it seems like a good idea so I can just scan my key chain instead. I seem to find that the Sunoco is usually higher in price for gas in my area, I usually fill up at the shell on finch and Victoria Park its usually not bad in price since it is across from a Petro Canada where they both usually compete for price often.

I have the CAA membership... however I kinda feel lazy using it at sunoco since the rewards are just sooo limited maybe they should expand like petro canada. Maybe if we can use those CAA $$ for movie passes I'd use it more.
