I received a BMO fee increase notice today.
The new unlimited plan apparently has free cheques.
If you keep a 4500$ that month you don't pay the 25$ monthly fee.
So maybe it is possible to switch to that plan, get the cheques, and switch back?

That's very labour intensive and take at least 2 days to get the job done. Not hot at all. I don't think ppl are still using cheques(may be 1 or 2 a month), last time I order cheque was like 2 years ago. Not worth the time in my opinion.

Yeah, I only use them to pay the rent. But last time I tried to get a few I looked around and the cheapest I could find was to get 200 cheques (for about 40$?).

I wish I could apply... I guess we're already separated from Canada, as far as the banks are concerned.

Who can apply?
Account holders must be the age of majority in their province of residence. Account holders must be a resident of Canada; unfortunately our services are not currently available to residents of Quebec.

LOL Quebec gets screwed for everything.
I'm surprised we don't have a term for it yet. Someone should come up with one.

Not everything. It's easier to PM @ Staples in Montreal than in T.O.
Better restaurants & skiing too :)

yea, there's western BC ... but don't forget the rockies & kootenays (the mountains are also part of alberta!)
quebec has their own little world with the way the gov't and things such as lottery/contests are treated there. good place to live or visit, would be the best if it wasn't for some of that holier than thou french attitude. no offense, just sayin it the way it is :D great place overall.

Just do like I did, subscribe to PC Financial and enter your usual address except for a slight modification: choose Ontario as your province. My application went through without a hitch and they even corrected my address. I got both accounts (chequings + savings) along with a PCF MasterCard. I've been using them for over a year without any issue whatsover.

first, in quebec, they're talking about raising our hydro rates by 5.6 percent. Like banks, I think hydro's already making enough money (2 BILLION last year?)...
Second, Quebec is a great place to live and go to school (awesome tuition fees), but a horrible place to work (awful tax rates).
Sigh, if only we could all have oil like Alberta, take all (most) of the profits, have no provincial sales tax and wonder why everyone else wants a share of our wealth. I would love to live in a world where I could complain about paying a computer recycling fee that is less than the rest of us pay in taxes.

If you look at the top-right corner of the main PCF site (http://www.pcfinancial.ca/) it says "now serving Quebec." Clicking it takes you here (http://www.pcfinance.ca/01_splash_fr.asp).

The banking account is still not available to QC residents, only PC Mastercard and point card are available.
