Signing in is a small price to pay for stealing CPU cycles and bandwidth.

Again, it relates to some server overload we've been having the last week or so.

Word on the VB forums is there are some bots that are using the search function and that crunches the servers.

We're looking for a fix.

Have you considered upgrading to 3.5? I think that's less server intensive as it uses Ajax.

Well... you have to register to complain about it, but once you're registered, you don't have a reason to complain anymore. It's all very clever. :)

Indeed! And it lets me save my login data so it's all good. But the only reason I signed up for an account in the forums is so I could search.

we have to appreciate what RFD already offers. for example, members used view 20pg of threads at a time and this has been scaled to 14pgs. i prefer this over slower servers & page loading times.
