View Full Version : Suggestion of rules for Newbies

I think that newbies should be prevented from creating a new thread for at least 20 posts (or more). Gives them time to learn the rules and to know in which forum to post.
These 20 posts would also help to deter spammers from using the site. It is currently way to easy to post a thread. But then once its locked, its too late, the damage is done.
Some guy suggested a newbie forum. Don't know how well it would work, but that could also be a suggestion?

Wow I'm surprised after all the flaming and trash talking going on with newbies starting threads in wrong forums etc... that no one cares about giving some constructive suggestions for changes...talk about hypocrisy!!
Admit it!! Everyone in this forum just loves to bully newbies!!!

Hmm ok thanks, but that focuses more on bots and spammers...
what about some rules for newbies, or are we killing two birds with the same stone here?
Well as a follow-up, has any changes been made?

What about users who don't have accounts but stumble upon a hot deal?
They are then prevented from posting the hot deal for a significant time, until they hit the 20 post mark? By that time, the deal may be dead.

that would solve one problem and create another with newbs padding their post count to get to 20.

Just leave the newbies alone. Most post in the correct forum, it's just the odd one who doesn't.
Hell, some people who have been here for a long time still don't always post in the right forum.
If you limit what newbies can do on this site, you will limit the amount of people who come here in the first place.
I'm sure Ryan and Derek want as many members here as possible.

Dammit, why did you have to go and ruin this thread by introducing logic into it??
