Just came back from the Richmond Costco. Looks like they're carrying these again and they're now at $129.99. Model is PDM-0723, 7" Widescreen with swivel, nice looking screen as well. Can't beat this price for a quality player.

I've had this unit for 8 months now - works great, good battery life, my son loves it on long trips!

is this really a hot price? I should ask my parents to get this, so i have something to watch on my long trips to waterloo.

I've had it since the past summer. It is a great player as mentioned in the earlier post. I'd say it's hot since it was $189 when I got it! Well worth the price!

Parents? Long trips to waterloo? You're that young and have this many posts on RFD???

Yes, I have parents and they support me. I go to school in Waterloo, hence, why my parents are still supporting me.

I dont think there is a correlation between age and posts.

Wanna ask some more personal questions?

Seems like a good deal for a quality unit... Unbelievable how tech stuff drops day after day! Makes me want to buy stuff ! (haha.. well, sometimes.. it makes me just want to wait for the price to keep falling!!).

If you want a cheaper portable DVD player, there is another thread about a $99 player at walmart (diamondvision)

Yeah, actually, must be nice to have parents to support you buying a toy while you are also going to school... Not really trashing on ya, I just find it funny how many kids are in Univ, or College these days, and complain that they have student loans, and can't afford real food, yet can have Portable DVD players, and full gaming systems. Not a new thing really, I knew a guy when I was in University whose parents gave him a computer, their brand new Civic, and an Esso card... Which was handy for him, he not only bought gas with it, but food, yep, only $12.99 for a case of Coke!

I have an older model and my daughter loves it.

I wouldn't mind picking up a good portable DVD player with DIVX and XVID capabilities.

You can get a 7" player almost anywhere for $130. Keep in mind this has a tilt+swivel screen (can fold flat to make it look tablet-style) & (though not spec'd in the Polaroid link) comes with car case (worth $20 min) and 2 headphones. That makes this a hot deal.

The swivel screen has its pros & cons. Folded flat, it hangs nicer in the car than a regular unit in a fold-open bag but you must remove the player from the case to change the disc, which would present a challenge to smaller children.

I heard a while back that this player is Divx compatible even though the box and spec don't indicate this. Is this true?

You might have been reading this thread, which originally suggestedthe possibility, and then confirmed the lack of divx.

I bought this for my mom for Christmas at the $149.99 price. Any chance I'll be able to get $20 back from Costco? Is there a "statute of limitations"?

Anybody know how long the battery last? (real world usage, not quoted specs)

Also, has anybody tried the video input. I need a small display that I can hook up to my HT to change settings when the projector isn't on.

Its a different sku/model #. I believe the one you purchased included a case and headphones(I think). This model has only the ac/dc adapters and the battery with it.

It is costco ("easy returns" plus it has only been a couple months since you bought it).

Just return the item and buy back the one on sale. :)

They are pretty good, just invoke your COSTCO EASY Button. I think Staples should relinquish it to Costco, since it is easy. I have had items that I actually got a price adjustment on twice, as the price dropped again. They are really good at being FAIR!

You've gotta love Costco for that! One of the best return policies. Too bad, returns without receipts go on GC or CC now. I liked it back in the days when you got cash. :D

By the way, has anyone checked if they sell the same model at the Costco in the States? They always seem to have lower prices. Please let me know if you've checked it out. I know they sold cheaper generic brands for around $80-$90 USD last year.

why not just use a laptop to view movies if you have one.

Too big and does not attach to back of car seat. Most people use these things for entertaining children for long rides.

Didn't realize they had changed the contents. I feel better now. I got an open box 6.5" player at BestBuy for $90 and a CaseLogic bag for $20 about a month ago but I was thinking that this was a better deal for only $20 more. No bag makes it only lukewarm. Swivel screen is just one more moving piece for the rugrats to break!
