Someone demo-ed the power of this thing by rolling over it with a SUV. The box cracked but the PDA inside survived. Pelican shipped a replacement to the reviewer no questions asked!

I got my RCSS flyer here in Moncton but it said you get it free if you buy the kodak camera. But on the coupon in small print it said you have to buy for 25$ or more..

I think what they were trying to do was make the Kodak deal more attractive but placing the FREE with purchase ad on it but did not neccessarily mean you had to purchase the camera to get the free deal.

Customer Service desk has a posted sign saying that the case is free WITH purchase of camera. Maye deal is dead now?
P.S. Where were the cases displayed? I couldn't fine them at the Don Mills/Lawrence location

Is this nationwide? Do they have multiple colours?
The solid colour cases are more protective, because they have a 1/4 inch black foam pad stuck to the inside of the lid, while the clear cases do not.
I've been wanting to pick one of these up for a while now but iffy on the price tag.

I just got back from the Oakville Stupidstore and they had run out of the yellow 110 cases. The clerk in the electronics section gave me the last blue one and said that the coupon could be used for it too (despite the coupon expressly saying 'yellow'). Nevertheless, upon checkout the clerk didn't bat an eye to discount the $16.xx from the total bill.
This loss leader worked. I ended up buying $170+ in groceries today.

F**K! I've been there approx. same time with you, or even 30 min earlier!
I took a whole cart of groceries and presented the coupon to cashier and she looked at me as I were an alien. She didn't know how to use the coupon. Then I went to the Service desk and was told that this is an error in RCSS flyer and the deal is with purchase of Kodak camera only. I asked to call a store manager and when he came he told me same thing
I asked him to write his name and phone on the back side of my groceries cash register receipt. Don't know what to do else

Gmark was LUCKY to get that blue unit. I bought one from the Oakville store just before 1pm. I didn't see the sign there (maybe didn't look) but there were two guys that were happy to get it. I asked if it was limited to one per customer. He said something like "well, if you come back later, I won't remember you and I will give you another". Well... I went to buy some stuff non-grocery items and checked out with the free case. I was going to do some shopping at some other stores and then I would come back and buy my groceries and pick up a second one for my sister. Well, when I went to the electronics area some lady helped me and when I asked for it she was going to ring it up on that cash. I asked if I could take it out of the department since I wanted to buy some other items. She asked if I was going to use the coupon and I responded "yes" and she said that there was a correction e-mail they received in the morning!! (and pointed to the sign)... This was around 3:00pm I guess.... Anyway, I am glad some other RFDer got in on the deal.
I guess this is dead deal..... if anyone gets word from RCSS that it should have been valid please post here so I can let my sister know.....

went to Coquitlam RCSS on lougheed highway in BC, sold out. This was before closing on Sunday night.
Either this is a really popular deal or RCSS is pulling stock due to a printing error. (does sound like they intended it for purchase with the camera, giving it away with a $25 purchase is too cheap).

i asked the electronics person if they had any, but she said the same as what someone else in this post said, it's only free with the purchase of a camera...i was thinking, what a hoax, printing out these coupons and not honouring it...
and then i saw 2 stashed by the batteries (they were actually the 1020, not the 1010, but i didn't know at the time...) so i went to the cashier, she rang the pelican up to $23 and then took off $17 for the camera....i was like, there's something wrong, she showed me the model number on the coupon and the one on the case...so i couldn't really argue about that...anyways, long story short, i got the 1020 model (a bit bigger) and paid about 6 bucks for it with the coupon...not bad i guess...although the 1010 would have been perfect for my camera or even ipod, this 1020 is a bit big....

Just came back from RCSS in Mississauga. Had 3 pelicans 1010's left (2 Red, 1 Blue) in the electronics department. Bought some Fuji CD-R Photo 10-packs (planning on getting the rebate posted on another thread) to bring my total above $25 (didn't buy a camera a some hve mentioned above). Cashier didn't even blink an eye, and didn't question the colour (I didn't even read that part). He must have known about the $25 minimun though since he checked my purchases total to make sure. Funny thing though, as I just checked now that I'm back at work, is that he forgot to originally add the price of the pelican case on to the bill, but he did subtract the $16.98 amount from my total purchases, so I ended up getting more free stuff than I bargained for. My lucky day

So you not only got a free case, but ripped off the store for $16.98 and you're HAPPY? Man, I'd be back there so fast, making good on the error, it wouldn't be funny - I can't stand scamming someone, even if it was their error. If you want to rip off RCSS, then feel free, but I wouldn't shoot my mouth about it on here.
And yes, I actually go back and give any "error money" back, from extra change and correcting errors, to walking back into the grocery store when I miss an item under the cart. I just feel better knowing I'm not one of the "those people".

I totally agree with you and have gone back to correct mistakes made. I never once said I was happy, just lucky. I didn't notice the error until I was back at work (which I did mention), so haven't had a chance to go back to the store and correct it. You are acting as if it was my fault that they made a mistake. I never once said I meant to rip them off. I was just in a rush and didn't have time to check. BTW, I feel better knowing that I'm not one of "those people" who jump to conclusions.

Nice try, but if you're actually going to hit the store and give them back the money, why in the world would you be LUCKY? Personally, I'm pissed when that happens and I think "why did they have to screw up my order?"
I feel extremely UNLUCKY when a store screws up and I need to spend my time and gas to head back there and correct their error. The only way anyone in this position would feel *lucky* is if you're going to keep the money.
Think about it.
Nice try though.

The Superstore at Eglinton/Don Mills won't allow me to get the case without buying a camera. They said there's error in the ad.
Superstore at Steeles/Dufferin allowed me to grab the bigger 1020 and pay the price difference.

For those of you who managed to get one of these, did you find it in the camera/electronic department hanging next to the camera bags as was posted eariler? Or did you find it somewhere else? The stockboys I ask are clueless as to where these would be located.

Well,
the ottawa superstore wouldn't give out any of the cases!
As others have mentioned it was a printing error.
they should have at least posted a correction notice in the store!
or sent out an email.

Yeah the cases can be found in the photo/electronic department, but the actual location of the cases within the department may vary from store to store.
The Eglinton/Don Mills store did claim they have put up an ad error notice at the front door. But I got in and out through the side door so didn't bother to verify.

What if you just go to the Automatic cashier thing, where you scan your own, then after you are done, just put it in your bag and give the coupon to the monitor person...
I am hoping that in my little hamlet, I will be able to get one or two today. Our store is new enough that they are not aware of some ways of doing things. First time I returned AN item, it took nearly an hour.

No, you'll actually have to scan the case, and then bring the monitor person to reimburse the charges for you by typing in the coupon code. Because the coupon is for more than $10, a manager will usually need to called to input a passcode also.

Dead deal, right beside the display there is their disclaimer, stating that it was a misprint, and that you have to buy the camera... How do you get a misprint that is that detailed... Specifying the amount you have to purchase, but not drugs, smokes, etc... It's ridiculous really... Not like the coupon was misprinted to read the wrong model, or anything, a completely different deal!

They just use a stupid template to create coupons and someone in the promotional department was too lazy to create one specific for this coupon.

AFAIK, every wk when RCSS has these "coupons" on the flyers, all the terms/conditions are the same (or v. similar)
like kcjchan said, they've been using generic templates for all their coupons...
regardless of whether the store has the disclaimers/signs up or not, i'd imagine that even if it wasn't, most stores would be OOS by now....
