Which Diet Pop/Soda is closest to the non-diet version?
I'm not the biggest fan of diet pop, but since I'm trying to watch my wasteline lately, wondering what your opinion is on which diet drink is closest to the non-diet version... (i.e. which diet drink is the hardest to notice that it's diet!)
My two favourites would probably be Diet Sprite and Diet Mountain Dew as I find they are pretty close in taste to regular Sprite / Mountain Dew. For me, Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi just don't cut it - not like the non-diet versions...
Any opinions out there?

Drink water. Lots of it. That's the easiest way to lose weight because it allows your body to work properly. Other drinks can actually dehydrate you, which doesn't aid in weight loss or exercising properly.
When I moved to Ontario five years ago, I made a point of drinking nothing but water. Six months later, none of my pants fit anymore - they were all too big!

Ahhh... MacGyver, I'm way ahead of you - I also started heavy on the water about 4 or 5 months ago - I've lost about 20 lbs since then... Water is definitely far superior to diet drinks, but sometimes, I just crave a Sprite... diet that is... for that matter, juice is a healthier alternative too...

i'd bet money that in a blind taste test, most would not pick out the difference in diet and regular mug root berr. I havent tried other diet rootbeers so I can't extend my garuntee past mug

I like diet 7 up as well as a diet grapefruit drink that I get at Superstore.
Diet pepsi doesn't taste like the real thing? I think it tastes very close to the real thing. Diet coke, on the other hand, doesn't taste close to it's surared sibbling.

I have done a bunch of taste tests on this with friends and here's what I found out - some people can really tell when they are getting sugar and some really can't.
If you are having trouble finding a drink that has sugar substitute but still tastes like the sugared kind then you are probably in the sensitive group which means your basically screwed.
It's not so much that you taste the artificial sweetener, it's that you don't taste the sugar. Hope you're following I am very tired.
I've done group tests with most soft drinks and coffee. And gum. Not Dr. Pepper or Root Beer though - they would probably be a good choice because they are already pretty strong tastes with lots of smell to them.

Try any diet crush drinks. Unlike all other Canadian diet drinks they use splenda as a sweetener. This makes a huge difference because splenda actually tastes similar to sugar. In the US RC cola makes all of their diet drinks using this sweetener as well.

u could try cola C2 or zero or w/e that new product is lol since they SAY it's 2 calories but i dunno... ur better off drinking water or with crystal light water crystals if ur not too happy with plain water. I wouldnt' drink too much of it either one tho. Aspartame is a EVIL chemical. From what i've heard it can give u seizures if u consume alot of aspartame which is why i'm puzzlled as to why people add it since it is the replacement for sugar. Isn't there some other alternative? Neway buddy, ur better off with plain ol water or 100% pure juice *cough* Jack Lalayne Power Juice *Cough* that thing does wonders =)

yeah, and if you need that carbonation fizz feeling, then drink club soda or tonic water. I stopped drinking pop this year because I was buying them by the flats and I was the only one drinking them. It sure is a lot of pop to drink. I now only buy club soda, but only have an occasional pop here and there.
plus, it is better for you when you are real thirsty.

I can't stand diet drinks... Asspartame is really bad for you and leaves a strange feeling afterwards. You should drink water... and save the pop to a once-in-a-blue-moon treat. If you must have something carbonated, drink Perrier or Club Soda.

this is a myth. the theory is that cold water will cool your body down causing your metabolism to increase to produce heat. you'd have to drink a bathtub of ice water to notice any significant change.
