Hey everyone;
I am lazy and suck at cooking. Does anyone have an EASY Indian recipe that they would like to share? I have googled many, but i'd like one from a RFDer who can vouch that it's both easy and good..
BTW, i'm flexible, it can be a side dish, an appetizer, a main dish, a dessert etc.
Thanks!

I love Jamie Oliver's curry sauce. It's probably not authentic but it's really really tasty, fairly easy and flexible.
I usually leave out the curry leaf as it's not easy to get, and toss in a bit of garam masala instead.
Please report back on whatever you choose to cook!

If you have an oven, I recommend tandoori chicken and mincemeat shish kebab. They're really simple - just marinate the meat, leave for four hours, oil a large pan, place the meats on the pan, then pop into the oven. Check after 30 mins from time to time.
Any tandoori or kebab masala packet will come with instructions. For the simplest dishes, you only need a few cups of Balkan-style plain yoghurt. If you want to be complicated, you can also add capsicum, tomato and cottage cheese in your kebabs.

If easy is what you need go with this. The jars are about 4 or 5 bucks and
it takes no effort at all.

Take a look at this site/page:

Just read the little introduction to Indian cooking. Very well written for the western audience. You don't have to follow all his directions to the T, but will give you a good idea as to the indispensables in Indian cooking. Believe me, it seems daunting at first which is why most people go for the pre-made curries and packets (e.g. pataks). However, if you start trying yourself, it is really quite simple. And you will never want to go back to those readymade curry mixes.
I haven't yet seen any of their recipes in detail but from the style and content of their site, I am sure it should be decent.
Indian desserts are quite cumbersome (especially the ones that involve dairy, which is almost 90% of them). A good simple dessert is "Sooji Halwa". Google it (variants: Suji Halwa, Suji Halua, Sooji Halua). Very easy but requires two items that you will most likely get only at an Asian store:
-Ghee (also called clarified butter, an item that is an absolute must when cooking Indian food. Regular Butter is not a suitable substitute).
- Suji (You can use Semolina instead, but Suji is a grade coarser, and will result in a better tasting final product. It can be found in Bulk Barns, sometimes).
Good luck.

I like the Asian Gourmet curry paste, try them if you can find them in your store.
