Can't remember if we still need one.
Thanks

The Canadian Travel website www.voyage.gc.ca recommends you bring a passport with you as this is assured documentation of your status as a Canadian status. But this is no mandatory at this time

Passports
While U.S. authorities currently do not have a legal requirement that Canadians carry a passport, Foreign Affairs Canada strongly urges all Canadians travelling to the United States to obtain and carry a Canadian passport before leaving Canada. It is the only document that conclusively proves that you are a citizen of Canada with the right to return to Canada. Remember that a Canadian passport is still the best internationally accepted evidence of your Canadian citizenship and the best possible photo identification. Please consult the web site of Passport Canada for information on the proposed requirement for passport or alternate secure document (still to be determined) for entry of all visitors, including Americans and Canadians, to the United States.

It won't be mandatory by the US till 2008.
I just flew down to Maryland this past week and just showed my Citizen card and DL. At the gate and pre-check. The customs guy did make a comment about needing a passport in 2 years..I did have my old one, which was expired, (I haven't got my new one yet)...he scanned that anyways...but no major problems showing another form of ID, Birth Certificate, DL, Citizenship. Just make sure you have 2 pieces or more...or else carry your passport..it's the least hassle.

I always take my DL and Birth Certificate. Never had a problem. Obviously customs prefers passports, but until they are mandatory they will accept two pieces of ID.
