That plus a picture id (driver's license, etc).

Passport is not mandatory yet.

If you have your passport that's not expired, just take it anyway.

driver id and birth certificate works . passport will make it easier though cause of less questions asked.

Assuming you're born in Canada.

^^^^^ This is correct.

Passports will be mandatory starting in 2007 I think.

Bring his birth certificate also ( same name as you i am assuming) if not you might want to bring something that states he is yours :)

I've heard of seemingly isolated cases of parents having difficulty in bringing young children to the USA.. bring all possible documentation you can to prove, JUST IN CASE.

this is especially true if the other parent isn't going on the trip.

Ya I also thought I read something about showing permission/acknowledgment from the other parent regarding leaving the country with the child. I don't think it's mandatory but I believe they were saying it helps.

If you are taking the child by yourself, I am not sure if it is required but I have heard of taking a signed note from the other parent (not that it couldn't be forged?) giving permission...

How can his passport be expired if he's only 1 year old? I thought passports were valid for at least 5 years?
