There's a certain halogen floor lamp that I've been searching for but have had no luck so far. They used to be available at Home Depot, Cdn Tire, Wal-Mart, etc about 2-3 years ago but now I can't find them anywhere. Does anyone know where I can pick one up? Or anywhere I can buy it online? Here's a picture of them. Maybe you are familiar with it.

I got one of those lamps at Canadian Tire a few years ago. They're not sturdy at all. Even in that pic you posted, you can see the lean on them, especially on the middle one.

It has been jokingly called the "light of the Chinese", as almost every Chinese family has one in their living room.
Or get this instead, for just $22.99:

I have seen that at Ikea too.... it is a good deal for what you are getting. I recommend checking Ikea out too. I know someone who purchased a similar lamp... it looked better on display. There is a plastic pipe covering to cover-up the loose electrical cord (that they sell by the length) and this made all the difference asthetically as unfortunately it doesn't come with this covering right out of the box.
Those halogen ones that the OP shows can tip over very easy, I have yet to see one with a sturdy base. I have also heard that they can cause fires as the halogen lamp gets very hot.

I saw them for sale at a CDN tire just last weekend.. 14.95+tx
I have one, used to be bright but now its all slanty and the bulbs losing its punch.. I'm never buying hallogen again. Next lamp is going to be dual energy saver 120 watt bulb lamp.

The one at CDN Tire isn't the same lamp. Similar, but not the same.

When these were still in style about 10 years ago you could get them just about anywhere. But yeah high powered halogen and tippy base is not a safe lamp especially when kids are around.

Yes, KrispyFive is right, I have one of those lamps in my living room and it is slightly slanted now. They look nice but they definitely won't stay straight for a long time.

I remember when I first noticed halogen lamps I think they were selling for $30 to $50. My how prices have gone down... could it go all the way down to $9.99?

I used to have them but not any more.
They have various issues.
1. hot
2. the light pole never stand straight (including those showed in the OP).
3. Fried flies
4. Not exactly safe.
5. Energy cost (300W?)

yea, i have a few of these at home too
they light up bugs in the summer and it smells too
the last one we got had some weird cage to it
cause there were incidents that the halogen tube/bulb thing blew up or it light up stuff, sometihng along those lines
but think now most of the halogen ones are being replaced by regular light bulb ones
and back like 10yrs ago, rooms wern't build with lighting
its rare to get a room with ceiling light unless somebody customize it before you got the house :|
