I know there is a utility thread for a house but I'm wondering if anyone out there can tell me the utility costs for a condo. Aside from the maintenance fees, tax and stuff like cable and phone bill, how much am I looking at paying per month. Assuming that nothing is covered under the maintenance fees, how much am I looking at paying for gas, water, etc.
I know it depends largely on living habits too so I'm looking at buying a 700 sq. condo and will be living alone and will be home most of the time aside from working during the day. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

if its a highrise condo (not wood construction) and your on a middle floor away from the corners (only 1 ouside wall) you can have very very low heating bills jsut by turning your temp down to 18 and having heavy blinds. Make the suckers in the expesnive corner units pay all the heat
I have no idea on monethly costs as I havent moved into my condo yet.

Aren't utilities (heat/gas, water, hydro) usually covered by the maintenance fee too? You should confirm this with whatever condo units you are looking for.

I know some cover them and some don't. I just want a ballpark figure if it's not covered..thnx.

Different condo corps have different rules for different condos. Some pay for everything. Others only cover common grounds maintenance. Some neighbours turn up their heat high so you don't have to. Others are bone chilling cold.
You need to check with the particular condo corp. No one here can guess correctly based on the info here.

Yeah... that's what I mean. To the OP... you really need to check with what is covered and what is not with the condos that you are considering. That's the only way to know for sure.
It's funny for some condos at night, sometimes you can see quite cleary which condos have their owners pay for metered hydro individually and which condos include it in a common maintenance fee. As people in the condos with metered usage tend to conserve, while people in condos whose fees bundling hydro in don't and are less inclind to conserve energy  .

depends on the condo type.
Does the heat runs on GAS or electric board along the window?
Is there a water heater in each unit? Is the heater rented or own?
Does the water heater runs by GAS or electric?
Do you have an individual A/C unit in your condo unit?
If you ask around, you probably know electricity is the MOST expensive one.
If you get a chance try to stay away for those type.
Just take a guess in your case, for utilities ~ $70 - $120 per month.
