Well, you better see a Chinese doctor (who practice Chinese medicine) instead of just getting the medicine if you really want Chinese medicine. Chinese medicine can kill (like any medicine) if you don't use it right.

Go see a naturopathic doctor. if u have insurance, it's usually covered...even simple student ones have coverage. i love my naturopath. tho, don't see them if u have an emergency!

...or see a traditional chinese medicine specialist when it becomes regulated in ontario.

Actually, most deaths are from contraindications. ie not telling your physician you're taking ginko - which has lots of cumulative effects.

That is why I recommend a naturopath b/c they have 4 years of training and are licensed professionals. they know naturopathic medicine, traditional chinese medicine, allopathic medicine, and many other modalities of treatment. they would know more about prescription medicines and what drugs should be avoided.

edit: for the above reply, here's the ministry posting. good night.

I hope it gets more highly regulated. Alot of this stuff seems to work.

Ephedra used to be a chinese herb that was turned into a very scucessful dietary supplement.
That is... Until fatasses started to eat bottles of it per day and getting heart attacks, ruining it for everyone else!

I wonder has teh CAnadian bann on ephedra been lifted yet... its been lifted inthe US.

I was on drugs for schizophrenia years ago (and I am again now), but my sister convinced me to go off them (because drugs are "bad").
I was living with her at the time, and in her opinion, eating organic food and taking Bach Flower Remedies (a scam) would fix my schizophrenia.
Well, I was in a state where I was easily led, so I went along with this.
I have found out that for certain diseases, you do need medication, not some hocus pocus.
Just because something is "natural" does not mean it is better in many cases.
I found this out from experience as the organic food and Bach Flower "magical potions" did nothing to help my schizophrenia.
Luckily, I got back on medication and will stay with it the rest of my life.

Actually I find the other way around. Usually the western medicine does not work and Chinese medicine works. And you just gave a very good example yourself. Asthma can not be healed by western medicine but some people were healed by alligator soup.

Another good medicine for asthma is ... I don't know how to say it in English. Can someone do it for me? It is
"Snow (animal like frog) cake".

it's more to it than just "drink this good for you soup and everything will be better".

that's the problem with the western thinking. everyone wants this magic pill that will be the solution to all problems.

the healing process is more than that. if you continue stay as a fat slop and drink 8 bottles of beer per day and load your body with McDumpster's food, any amount of Chinese or Western medicine is not gonna help you.

you need to be aware of the big picture and how you treat your body. garbage in, garbage out.
