I'm planning on heading out to Tremblant on Thursday morning ~ 10:30AM.
Looking at the routes, Mont-Tremblant recommends driving through Montreal, but the through-Ottawa route seems to be much more direct.
How's the traffic through Ottawa? Should I bypass Ottawa, or will traffic be ok?
The driving time estimated by Google seems to be almost 9 hours, whereas Mont Tremblant's route says 6.5 hours. This seems odd, especially when the Ottawa route is ~100KM shorter...?

Drove back from Mt Tremblant last week through Montreal (Hwy117 --> 15 --> 13 --> 20 --> 401), left Tremblant @7:45am, arrived in Toronto 1:30pm, no traffic but make sure you don't get into downtown Montreal during rush hours.
Don't take the Ottawa route coz it would be quite slippery.

I've taken the both routes in winter and summer. I prefer the Ottawa route. It's more scenic, less traffic, and I find it quicker.

Ottawa route is bad right when you leave Tremblant, the Lac des Plages area is small winding road with lots of hills. If you drive to fast you will get sick : )
I would also say that this route is faster if all goes well. If it is snowing take the Montreal Option.

I'm very surprised that Tremblant suggests taking the 20 all the way to the 13 coming from Toronto. It is much faster to leave the 20 and take the 540 up to the 40 before Vaudreuil, and take the 40 to the 13. That way you avoid the traffic lights on the 20 in Vaudreuil and Ile Perrot, and all the traffic around the 20 and the 13.
The Toronto way is faster because you are using the highway, whereas the Ottawa way travels through national and regional roads, with stop signs and lights through the cities.

I ski Tremblant 2 to 3 times a year for the last 5 years. I have used both Ottawa and Montreal routes. The Montreal route can be tough at the Montreal area with changes to different highways. However, the Montreal way is still the best way. From Toronto, take 401 to Quebec Hwy 20 than on 20 follow the Maribel Airport sign through Hwy 40, and a few other highways, which will eventually guide you to 15 N, Hwy 15 N will change to 117 than follow the sign to tremblant. All the highways are divided highway and is much easier to drive as compared to the Ottawa route. Driving time is around 7hrs depending on how fast and how often you stop for breaks.
The Ottawa route is a scenic route through the country side, if you encounter bad weather it's dangerous, you may consider using the ferry on Hwy 17 to bypass the Ottawa Down Town, cost $5 per vehicle.

I totally agree - take the 40. The 20 is a milk run with lots of stops.
