Hey guys,
I have a laptop im interested in selling, and I was wondering what you all thought a fair price for it would be. The laptop is a Compaq 2195CA. It has a 1.87ghz Mobile Athlon XP processor, 40 gig drive, 64 megs shared video (ati mobility 7000), 512 megs of pc2100 ddr (2 x 256), usb 1.0, s-video out, and is in very good physical condition (7 or 8 / 10). The screen is a 15" TFT screen (1024 x 768 max). The laptop is about 2 years old. There is no wireless on this particular unit, but I have a netgear wireless G card that goes with it. The battery is in very good condition. It lasts me for an entire 3 hour lecture while taking notes (with no screensaver or power options enabled). I also have an extended warranty from Staples, which is good for about 2 more years I believe.
Any help would be appreciated!
Edit: One dollar was donated to the special olympics with the purchase of this notebook. By reselling it, I waive my right to claim that dollar as a valid donation from myself, and therefore with the purchase, the buyer will be making a valuable contribution to a very good cause.

As ridiculous as it sounds, you will get what someone will pay for it. If you want to maximize the amount you get, don't sell it on RFD, you will likely miss your asking price by quite a bit. If you or someone else you know can post an ad at work, go for that. I sold something through my grandmother and actually got more than what I was asking for.

Well...to put things into perspective Futureshop and Bestbuy are selling this
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10070871&catid=11520
And that's at regular price. To me your laptop is worth ~$600.

probably nothing over $600
i'd say around $500
a M2105CA/M210S was selling for $699 from futureshop, staples, and officedepot a while ago, and staples offer coupons, so stack 2 $30 becomes $639 for a brand new one.
The M2105CA has mobile sempron 2800+ processor, 40GB, DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive, ATI 200M video, and 15" screen

and @ $799 or $739 after coupons, futureshop and staples were offering 2405 with widescreen, dvd-burner, and 512mb.

As I read down, the trend is the newer the post is, the lower the price. So I have decided to join the trend and offer you the lowest price to ensure no one can offer it lower: $0!
:D
Ok, enough. No really, I think if someone asks me if I want one... I'd say $500 or less. I spent $600 on a beautiful 12" Sony months ago, you know? And there are postings in BST selling beautiful lappys for $800...

I think so but I'm not sure from where?
ynchu, I agree with your observation. Maybe the next person will say it's worth $1500 and it will cancel out all of the other replies ;)

Hey man.
Just tried selling my old Dell Inspiron 1150 with Pentium 4, 2.0 ghz processor, 512 megs ram, 64 megs video card and a wireless card (b/g)....
it hurts, but don't expect more than 600 bucks.
Check out ebay, and follow a few auctions for your model for a few days. You'll see that the opinion that your fellow RFD'ers are sharing is a realistic one.
$600 tops.

Thanks,
I was just joking about the $1500 :D
I was thinking somewhere between 500 and 650 (closer to 650 because of the 2 year warranty that comes with it), but I really wsnt sure if that was a good range or not.
Thanks for the opinions all :)
