Do you know what's been added to the director's cut? I saw the original and wasn't exactly impressed - it felt like a *lot* had been cut out, and the whole thing just felt unsatisfactory. Maybe the DC will improve on the original. Now, where's our director's cut of Bladerunner? :)

A lot of scenes involving character developments had been cut, so those are what have been restored.

As for Bladerunner, the only cut that's available on DVD right now IS the director's cut. The theatrical version has not been available for a long time now; it was never on DVD.

Right... you're absolutely right. I'm thinking about Dune. Sorry about the confusion.

there is about 45mins added. As been mentioned BR is already out, new disc (which has been in limbo forever) *should* be out by the end of the year, atleast thats what the studio is hoping for. Dune was just released.

I guess the director isn't that happy with the extened edition, I think all the best versions are non-region 1's.

Re: Dune - I dun think that has any involvement by David Lynch

Trivia (from imdb.com):

David Lynch turned down the chance to direct "Return of the Jedi" and instead decided to direct Dune.

I often wondered how the movie would have turned out had he directed it.

No, he basically washed his hands of the whole film and wished that it had never been made. Not that it really matters - the book is far, far superior to any film version thus far (haven't seen this new DVD version).

This movie didn't do anything for me at all. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood when I was watching it.

In regards to the new version of Dune DVD, I haven't watched all of it yet but I really dislike how they changed the narration from the Princess to some dude.
