Ok...how does Bono allow Mary J Bile phuck up "One" ?
At least get a singers who voice is in the same key as Bono.

I was rally looking forward to some standout performances in the Sly and the Family Stone tribute. That was the worst rag tag collection of artists, bastardizing some true classics of funk, and then Sly comes out looking like a cross between Alien and Mike Score from Flock of Seagulls

The only thing more laffable was Bobo, er Bono accepting Grammy for Best Rock Album....methinks Bobo was partaking in illicit refeshments before he did his little thankyou, or whatever that was.

For years I've skipped this annual love-in. I haven't missed a thing.

I watched the Grammys too. For the most part it was the usual predictable pap. Good performances came from John Legend, Springsteen, and Stevie Wonder. Kanye West and Foxx were also decent.

The whole thing was worth watching for the absurd Sly performance, which has to rank as one of the weirdest musical performances ever seen on TV. The guest renditions of his songs were crap, as expected.

But Sly is a notorious recluse and erratic personality, and it's amazing he even showed up. He hadn't been seen public since 93 and was rumoured dead, sick, etc., you name it. Even his friends don't know where he lives or his exact age.

He was barely audible during his performance and bizarrely left halfway through! Weird stuff.

Not sure about watching it online. But I'm sure there're ways out there to download. But just catch the Terri Hatcher part. Everything else was pretty forgettable

there were parts where it sounded like she was singing on top of a backing track to make her voice sound better/stronger (she probably learned her lesson after how horrible she sounded at the europe music awards a couple of months back).

i think most singers these days use backing tracks when there's lots of choreography involved in the performance, it's just that no one has ever been as stupid as assley simpson to play the wrong track during the performance.

Mary J. Blige originally covered the song during a Music Cares tribute to Bono. They then performed the song for Katrina victims during the “Shelter From The Storm: A Concert For the Gulf Coast” broadcast (the duet performance with U2 was in Toronto). Since the performance was used to help Katrina victims, I'm sure Bono doesn't mind collaborating with Mary J. Blige (and the song now appears on her latest album).

At least get a singers who voice is in the same key as Bono.

It is in the same key; her voice just overpowers Bono's (and she sings the tune a little differently). I prefer the original U2 version, but I don't hate the version with Mary J. Blige either.

The only thing more laffable was Bobo, er Bono accepting Grammy for Best Rock Album....methinks Bobo was partaking in illicit refeshments before he did his little thankyou, or whatever that was.

He may have, but I doubt it.

"Being in a rock band is like running away with the circus," the ever-quotable Nobel Peace Prize nominee said. "But there's also the possibility with rock music...that, you know, it might just amount to something a little more than entertainment on an occasion, and that you might be able to communicate some honest feeling."

Bono is referring to the scrutiny one is under when experimenting with music, and as a rock start celebrity, one sometimes feels like a freak. He is saying, regardless, the rock music that he writes allows him to express something real and visceral--as opposed to the often fake commercial pop crap that is simply written by someone else for a corporate made pop singer.

-BY OUT!

p.s. its not like i dont like them... i just didnt think their album stunk

Madonna looked like a spent force. She is no longer the queen of pop, just relying on what worked well before rather than producing anything fresh. She was all thick muscular legs and not in a good way. At least, she scooped the opening slot from the boring Mariah Carey.
