Staples : ViewSonic VA1912wb Widescreen LCD Monitor, 19" @ $469.95 (http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=89%2C465%2C3548,3551&webid=627457)

PM with

infonec.ca @ $365.00 (http://www.infonec.ca/site/main.php?module=detail&id=15832)

The Math:

in store =

469.95 - (469.95 - 365.00) * 1.1 = $354.50

online =

469.95 - (469.95 - 379.60) * 1.1 = 370.57
- $30 off coupon #1 : 82221
- $30 off coupon #2 : 82228
= 310.57

edit : + $15 for shipping = ~$327

I know a guy who PMed at store and got it for $354.50 (argued, and paid by cash, as reg price is $379.60 @ infonec.ca), I just ordered one online myself... at $311, it's about the same price as the Acer 19" WLCD, but you will get DVI-D for free!!! enjoy :)

Staples might deny an online PM because Infonec page says Availability: Please Call for Stock *FOR ONLINE ORDERS
Staples do PM most canadian webstores, but they will add an amount equivalent to what the other stores shipping would be.

Feb 8th, 2006, 11:14 PM
ok, just got the price adjustment, they screw it up big time!

here's the first invoice

Merchandise Total: $469.95

Coupon 82221: -$30.00 Staples Coupon
Coupon 82228: -$30.00 Staples Coupon
GST (or HST): $28.70
PST : $32.80

Order Total: $471.45

then they gave me a credit of $50.37, which make no sense, so I called. they admit they were wrong, and adjusted it to 469.95 - (379.60 + 15 for shipping) = $75.35, and quickly got off the phone with me.

After hung up, I looked it up, remembered there's an extra 10% for price match, brings it up to $82.88, and since I shouldn't be paying tax at the old price, another 15% = $95.32, and made the total price $376.13, before tax price of $327.07, or $15+tax more than I first thought, due to shipping.

Looks like I have to call them tomorrow to get my $20 back...

realize something, every time they screwed up (first time i tried to price match, the wrong credit given, the phone call), it's all by someone name "sean"... I believe it's the same person...

another CSR named "brett" is the guy who got the correct figure... should i complain to staples about this "sean" CSR?

I just sent a PM request to stooples for this monitor too.Hopefully it goes through for me also but the "call for stock" at Infonec might get this PM request turned down.Worked for a couple members here so really no harm in trying it myself. If it does get approved I don't have the same problems as you technote. Thanks OP for the post.

I finally got them to adjust the credit to $99.39 (from $50.73, to $75.35 to $99.39), so the total is now:

$469.95 - 99.39 - (30 * 2) + 15 = $325.56
+ tax = $374.40

can anyoneo explain the process of getting price match?

do u have to buy the item first and than email them>?

technote
Feb 9th, 2006, 06:02 PM
to price match, first you send them a mail via their website (http://www.staples.ca/ENG/CSR/csr_contact_us.asp?CSREmailAddress=bd%2Epricematch %40orders%2Estaples%2Ecom&Subject=Price+Match&OrderRequiredFlag=No)

Fill in the required information, give them the a link to their product and then the link to where you find the better price.

Once it's approved, they will send you an email, instruct you to go ahead and order the item. Once ordered, they will email you, then you forward them the price match approval email as reply. Then they will email back and tell you how much credit they will be giving you.

Here is a link for a PM guide here on RFD.This deal seems dead at least for me as they rejected my PM request and this monitor is hard to find anywhere else to PM. ATIC.ca as it for $390 not sure of stock but I can add to my cart and order apparently. If the BenQ FP91V+ was instock for me @ staples I would have bought that. They have it listed for $397 and most online stores sells this for over $450 but as usual with stooples it is OOS for me.

In store you cant use the 2x$30 coupons, which kills the deal.

Infonec is OOS, you could use ATIC.ca instore, which is $390.

Then the deal would be:

$469.95 - $390 = $79.95

110% = $7.99

so $382.01

Not a deal at all considering you could have Infonec order one in for you and get it there for $365 without the frustration of PMs

Maybe we ca PM with ATIC.ca online

$469.95 - $390 = $79.95

110% of $79.95= 87.95

Total would be:$469.95-$87.95(price match)- (2x $30 online coupons) + $15(shipping not free at ATIC).

Price before tax is $337

No, it isn't. Basically, you can bring your online receipt to your local Staples store, then tell them to credit back the different price to your Credit card. It's easy if they do. ;)

elitechcomputers.com as this monitor for $389.It shows "In Stock" too.I don't know if they even ship or not. There is no shipping amount anywhere on the site that I could find so you might get the shipping for $15 added which would be reasonable.Better than full stooples price. For me stooples takes almost 24 hours to reply to PM request.Quite slow if you as me and I have had the same CSR each time.I will pass on buying this from staples for now but give them a call and try PM with elitechcomputers.Good luck!!

That is why I didn't try a PM with elitecomputers but you may still be able to order from them if you sent them an email asking if they would ship.I just got sick of dealing with Stooples after trying to PM with other stores to send elitecomputers an email to inquire about shipping. With no shipping charges posted on the site anywhere stooples might only add the $15 to the price instead of $65 shipping they added when I tried PMing with ATIC.It is worth a shot, worst thing stooples will do is turn it down and I am getting use to that and their lame excuses. :) Stooples doesn't seem to like RFD members for some reason. :cheesygri Though they do get all kinds of free advertising for their store from this site ,they always manage to p*ss off many members with their usual antic's when there is a good PM deal. Anyhow,I will wait for the next PM chance and will keep trying. Here's hoping the next Stooples deal won't be OOS,as per usual.

Great job on the deal.Wish the rest of us were as lucky.I wanted it really bad and almost bought it at regular price with the 2 $30 coupons but other deals will come along in the future. How is the monitor for watching movies? I read a post on the Ncix forums where a guy said it wasn't great for movies but I find that hard to believe.Judging by the specs it should look beautiful.I am looking at the cheaper Acer AL1916ASD now.It as pretty decent specs and as fairly decent reviews. Not widescreen though. :( Enjoy your monitor.

I think you already did get the $6.50 10% difference added in to the PM quote.$469.95 - $405.00 = $64.95 + 10% ($6.50) = $71.45. It works out to $398.51 - $60 (2x$30 coupons) = $338.51 + Tax just like the quote from the Staples CSR.Still a very good price.I wish I was as lucky with my PM for this monitor. When I tried PMing with ATIC staples added a $65.72 shipping charge to the ATIC price killing the deal for me.I wish they only added $15 like your PM as I really wanted this monitor.I ended up PMing staples with ats-computers for the 8ms 19" ACER AL1916ASD w/DVI and got it for $283.85 + tax, after PM and 2 X $30 off coupons. Not the monitor I wanted but the price was pretty good so I will give it a try.

I bought this online when deal was first posted Feb 8, but infonec was oos before my pricematch was approved.
But i held onto the monitor figuring i have 30 days to take it back and maybe they would have stock again. they still don't, but yesterday i successfully got pm in store with computrak. they have it for $380 online, lets you add it to cart, so they didn' t check stock.
here is link i matched to:

http://www.computraksystem.com/componentsdetail.asp?procode=9769

in future, i think i will try pricematches in store. they have to get the manager, and after customer service starts getting busy with everybody asking him stuff and people lined up behind me watching, i think he just wanted me out of there! :D
didn't even add shipping to PM

final price $469 - (2x$30 coupons) - ($98.95 %110 price match) = $310.05 + tax

i love the monitor. no dead pixels, small amount of light bleed, but who looks at black screen with lights off anyway? only negative is it stretches older games that don't support widescreen.

thanks OP and RFD

infonec now shows in stock as of March 14 for the $365 price.
PM staples $469 and use some coupons for an even hotter price.

Good monitor for the price

let me know if anyone got them to PM this time around, so I can change it back from dead to ALIVE!

p.s. loving my VA1912wb... awesome monitor for the price, probably as good as it'll get for awhile... that being said, viewsonic's vx2025wm is so much sweeter looking...

ViewSonic VX2025wm (http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktopdisplays/lcddisplays/xseries/vx2025wm/)

it's around ~$510 + tax everywhere though... so... $200 for 1 inch gain? not very RFD is it now...

I am sooo mad. Just drove up to my local staples store and they would not price match anyone unless they were in the same town, She said that is the policy. I told her to read the policy and she says that the one on the website and the one they have posted all over the store is not correct.

I bought this monitor yesterday in store for 379.99. memory express has it for 274.95. She said right away NO! Then we got into a big argument. I stormed out telling her I would return it tomorrow. I will report them for false advertising as well!!!!

I just got the online PM from staples as well... but they said i must order it and wait till its processed before they will give me the price match (with Buy.com) they didnt match the 5% btw.

My question is how do I apply the 2 coupons in this case? Thanks in advance!

I picked the Viewsonic monitor up last night at infonec and the price was actually $275 (on sale apparently) not $285 as the listed price. Not much but it was a pleasant surprise. Haven't had the chance to hook it up yet, will do so tomorrow for sure.
