Assuming the image on the website is the proper one, it looks like the following is the manual for this unit:
http://panasonic.ca/PDP/OperatingInstructions/scht820-eng.pdf
Model Number is SC-HT820V. Reviews of this unit can be found here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/customer-reviews/B0001ZRN8G/ref=cm_cr_dp_2_1/002-6290432-5344867?%5Fencoding=UTF8&customer-reviews.sort%5Fby=-SubmissionDate&n=172282 (I noticed one of the reviewers stated that this was a past Consumer Reports "Best Buy"...)

This thing does DTS, as well as Dolby Pro Logic II. It also recognizes HDCD and DVD-A as well as the usual formats... The biggest downside I see is no digital audio inputs (optical or co-ax). It does have component video in, as well as stereo L-R inputs though... Again, this is all assuming that the unit pictured on their website is accurate.
Of course, in my experience, I haven't had any problems returning anything I wasn't happy with to my nearest Zellers where I usually pick my items up.

Just speaking about panasonic items 'cause i got a HTIB from them
The speakers actually sound half decent and the woofer kicks out a good amount of bass for the model i have BUT the crappy thing about their product is that all the speaker inputs and even the power input are all located on the sub. Make it awkward to wire in my situation.
For the money though it's pretty slick. Better than the same sorta products you'd get from sony or the other big brands in the same price range methinks.

I was just about to get one when I noticed two things, that I consider negative about it. (for myself at least)
According to the manual, it can NOT:
1. it can not play DVD+R discs. (not important to me since I dont use +)
2. It can not play PAL discs.
good deal for some though, but since it wont play pal, i cant take it.

iwas looking into getting a panasonic home theater for my parents but i didn't want their recent 600W system because the base sucks. i was waiting for the 800W one to drop in price.
this one actaully has a VCR which is a big plus so i'm wondering about base and sound quality compared to the HTBI 600 watt model.
thx

Shipping via Canadapost is only 5.49...
great deal IMHO
However, keep in mind that it uses some proprietary connector for the subwoofer and speakers....so I guess that if the subwoofer dies after warranty is gone, you're left with a dvd player/vcr combo only.
EDIT : SOLD OUT NOW...lol....that was fast....

Nope, not possible last time I tried. Seems like Dealsoutlet works differently than other retailers with online ordering (eg. FutureShop, BestBuy, etc)

Yeah it's pretty hard to help a member of the forum and be a nice person isn't it? All you can do is get off your ass and complain about some insanity.

Has anyone upgraded the speaker wire that comes with this HTIB to get better sound, and if so, did it work, and what did you use?
Thanks

I have a question about this...
Is it me or does this thing not play CD's and DVD's back to back? The stupid thing stops... What's up with that?
Also how do I change CD's without touching the main unit? Manual?
