The formatting was fine. The thread was just old. It was locked and the user was forced to create a new thread. What is the point of that? It looks stupid imo. Fastfokker did what everr member should have done and that is use the search feature.
My 2 cents.

I agree. All this does is just discourages people from using the search function. Why bother since it's okay to start a new thread. Well, if that's the case, I don't want to hear any more whiners complaining about people not using the search function.

I tried.. I see people all the time getting bashed because they didn't search, and now their thread is a "repost".
I don't get this "no bumping old threads" rule, it's confusing.. at what point is a thread too old to bump vs. how soon is a thread a repost?
I'm so confused. I just want to make sushi!
Keelie messaged me later with her reason for locking it, and I don't recall exactly what she said, but I accept it. It's just really difficult to decide, whether to make a new thread or bump an old one.
Seems either way you get my avatar! >:(

Maybe this case can be used as precedent whenever someone gets chided for not using the search function. Either that or establish a rule about how old a thread must be before you can start a new thread about a similar topic.

An auto-lock feature after a certain period after last post would solve both these problems.
Or you can do no thread resurrect for Hot Deals forum only.

Isn't there some kind of archiving function that can be used so that threads pass over after X months? Then threads in archive are automagically locked and a person doesn't mistake Feb. 5 2003 for yesterday?

that thread was asking how to make sushi, when it was brought back after nearly one year, it was asked, how many people make their own sushi?
i felt that should have been a new topic.
answered, locked.
