View Full Version : Is it possible for sub-categories in BST?

For example, when I'm searching BST for a MB, even though there is a specific category for computer hardware, it's still sometimes hard to find what I am looking for. People don't always put "motherboard" or even "MB" in their title or description. They often just put the make and model. If you aren't looking for a specific make, then it may be hard to browse for motherboards.

So would it be possible, upon creating a new thread in BST, to give it a sub-category, like motherboards, hard drives, RAM, CPU's, etc, etc, etc.

Then if you wanted you could just browse CPU's or you could browse the entire hardware forum as it is now. It wouldn't have to be it's own forum though.

Hopefully I'm explaining myself properly.

Yeah, I know what you mean, but it's not really possible for the standard forum format we're using. When you get into deeper classification and categories like that it'll probably end up being more of a classifieds style listing that's a bit different than how the BST operates.

I think the problem also becomes when people are selling more than one item. Selling a mobo, RAM, HD, a cpu, and their car rims. Do you make them create 5 different threads to sell their stuff? It becomes a lot to maintain, and you get a lot of unncessary server usage.

Try doing a search for "motherboard" in title only. If you do a search in the entire post you'll get every single system for sale too.
