Designed by tony stark so it is armor with some hi tech gadgets built.
Not sure how I like it. Remember the last time they changed it, we ended up with Venom!

Artists are the only ones who can truly do the Original suit justice, as a poster above mentioned, McFarlane's bigger eye rendition was truly amazing aside from his unique style of drawing. I worked for the comic industry for a while now and I do stand by my opinion that great artists can really bring out the potential in a character. They even have the power to save a character/series if sales are falling. :) These new suits/gimmicks won't work for everyone especially if they are die hard fans of the original.

From what I've read, the new suit is only temporary, thankfully :)

I agree. I'm curious, in what capacity are you affilliated with the comic industry? Would we be familiar with your work?
With regards to Spider-Man's new suit, I actually like it, but not for Spider-Man. I like his classic suit more, and the new suit should go to a new different character.

Augh, My Eyes!
Marvel's had some cool spidey suits over the years (and some real stinkers) but they keep coming back to the original, and I doubt this suit will be an exception.

That clone saga in 1996 made me stop buying new Spider-Man comics. It basically said that after all these years the Spider-Man I was a fan of was a clome. They proved it worng later when they lost all their fans, but the damage was done

This is a bit off topic but what does a comic cost these days? I used to collect up until the mid 80's and then again in the early 90's. The last comic I purchased cost (roughly) $1.50 - $2.00.

Depends on where you go, usually about 3-4 bucks a pop. A big problem these days is that the canadian price on comic book covers which is much higher than it should be. For example a copy of Ultimate Spidey I picked up last week has the US tagged as $2.50 and the Can price at $3.50. Meanwhile I log in to xe.com and it shows 2.50 US translates as 2.85 Canadian(!). Since most comic retailers get their comics from US sources (Diamond) paying in US funds, some honest dealers bring the price closer to what it should be, but others are making a tidy profit off this exchange oddity.

A friend of a friend worked for Dreamwave. I think he works for the same film studio my friend does now. He was telling him about some of the corruption. I don't remember too much but supposedly there were a lot of unpaid and pissed off employees and artists. He said some guy bought the rights to the company and some of it's comics and is trying to get back together most of the team to restart the studio.

For those curious about the Dreamwave situation, a trio of Newsarama interviews:
Interview with creators Adam Patyk and James McDonough (http://www.newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=39073)
Interview with company founder Pat Lee (http://www.newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=39738)

This is a bit off topic but what does a comic cost these days? I used to collect up until the mid 80's and then again in the early 90's. The last comic I purchased cost (roughly) $1.50 - $2.00.
Quick overview:
DC/Marvel Mainstream Titles: $3.50-$4.25
DC/Marvel Imprints (Vertigo, Wildstorm, Icon, Max): $3.99-$4.99
Dark Horse/Image: $3.99-$4.99
IDW Publishing + other independents: $3.99-$5.99
A big problem these days is that the canadian price on comic book covers which is much higher than it should be. To be fair, retailers get gouged the other way as well. Over the course of a few years/currency fluctuations, it balances out.
Since most comic retailers get their comics from US sources (Diamond) paying in US funds, some honest dealers bring the price closer to what it should be, but others are making a tidy profit off this exchange oddity.
As I understand it, comic retailers go to a regional distributor, who acts as a middleman between them and Diamond directly. Lots of hoops to jump through...

So, I guess now if Spidey goes up against Doc Ock. Won't be nowhere near a fair fight considering that he kept getting his butt kicked when spidey had only his arms and legs

Those who are out of the loop in comics for a bunch of years can buy Marvel's new Trade Paperbacks, and with the Canadian $ getting stronger, there are some stores that charge the American price with no tax or even a bit cheaper than that, if you buy comic books monthly from the same store.
I bought the Marvel Knights Trade, first 12 issues, a run by Mark Miller for around $28, instead of $44 Canadian the store I go to. People should check it out, it's amazing. Millar does the old classic villains of Spidey justice by making a great story and the art is fantastic.
As for "The Other" I thought it was going to be something great but it was terrible, except for Straczynski's issues were average. I love Straczynski's writing and his run and it's too bad that they didn't just let him do all the issues for "The Other" because I think it could have been something good instead of boring, and pointless. Is the Amazing #529 cover a fake? A lot of issues in "The Other" had a bunch of multiple covoers... There are 2 here from Amazing # 528, the issue right before and it looks like Spider-Man "SpiderHam" is doing the same stance as in that #529 cover. I find the alternate covers so weird as they're so different than just the regular cover.
And those arms do like Dr Octopus' I don't get it, in the issue Spidey takes out the claw like things out of him but not Octopus' arms...

For a while there I was collecting every single title Dreamwave put out, I stopped just when the Transformers came out, comics just became too expensive a hobby to keep. I've noticed the comic stores I go to, it's a hobby mostly for adults now, you don't see very many teenagers anymore. Maybe video games have taken over their interests.
Since we have some comic book collectors here. How often do you replace the bags/boards? What kind of bags/boards do you use?

I stick to the same bags and boards that I buy, but I take out the ones that I buy from comics book shops or conventions because they're usually yellow.I have seen mines turn yellow and I have them for around 10 years.

Good for you, doing the healthy thing and replacing your comic fixation with a DVD obsession! ;)
It's an adult clientele now, comics are way too expensive and often no longer appeal to kids.

Never have, don't plan to. I've read every 10 years...

I havent changed my bags or boards since I started. In the old days before bags and baords were around, I used to keep them in bread bags. Take a huge stack and out them in there. Worked quite well.
Not I have them all in boards and bags with comic boxs.
I find the boards that are the shiny white to be the best.

The Other is a really awful storyline, ranks up there with the Spider-Man clone debacle.
I disagree. The Other is a total depature from the character of Peter Parker Spiderman, another travesty presented by JMS after his 'wonderful' Sins Past arc where he basically crapped over the character of Gwen Stacey. So its a terribly written and streched out storyline that was a depature from Spidey's character.
The (SECOND) Clone storyline was a great story that got ruined do to being streched out (due to stupidity and changing of editors in the Spider office during the course of it) and despite some stretches of terrible art and filler, it gave birth to some really great stories.
And if people thought that Peter Parker was the clone at any point and that was going to be final... sheesh, its like believing Wolverine was going to be admanantiumless forever after Fatal Attractions.
It expanded Spiderman's world and even allowed the possiblity for a legacy to be created (akin to a Flash or GL), then Marvel puts together a mishmash of an ending with no real resolution (although PP:Spiderman was an excellent issue) that left the franchise in shambles for years.
The (second) clone saga was the most ambishious storyline ever done in an big franchise book and its a shame that Mackie never got a chance to have it run its course how he wrote it. Oh... and for the majority of its run it had good sales, it wasn't until after that Spiderman sales went down.
As for the 'new costume'... looks horrible, but it plays a role in Civil War. Oh for those who are quick to believe that the new developments are here to stay... the classic costume will probably return after Civil War plays out. ;)
Also, I really liked Dreamwave's work... high quality stuff. Always used to pick up stuff when the company made appearances at the CN Comic Expo.

I actually liked the clone saga too, and I really liked Ben Reilley's character and the stories about the Scarlet Spider, I don't understand if it even mattered if Peter was a clone during all those years. A clone is identical to the real person so it's not like it would have made a difference storyline wise, the whole point of Peter being a clone was that Ben became a different person because he led a life that went completely in a different direction. Also I thought it was so stupid that because Ben turned into decay when he died that Peter automatically thought he was the real Spidey, I mean he saw so many clones die and there could have been a real Peter Parker somewhere else that isn't him. That just shows that it doesn't matter if you think that Peter was a clone in all those years, because he could still be one right now, even though that wouldn't be the case since writers will never go back the clone path... and maybe with "The Other" Peter's transformation is one that his clones can't do.
I hate that Kain's story never ended, I remember when Peter came back as the "Real Spider-Man" after Ben died there was a story that looked like Kain was coming back but I guess they dropped it.
When Bagley came in the Toronto Convention last Summer I had him sign the Maximum Clonage book, and he told me that was the worst comic ever created lol. He only signed a page inside the book. I told him I liked the clone saga. :cheesygri

I collected the majority of Dreamwave comics and had them signed by Pat lee as well as many of the other artists involved.
I hate to say it but i suppose the value of those comics should increase with the closure of the company. I really enjoyed the story lines though.

Thanks for the info Spidey and Headhunter!
It's going to cost me quite a bit to replace all the bags and put boards in them. Just spoke to one of the owners and he recommends using "Half-back"s (acid free boards) and Mylites for the more expensive issues in the collection. Received two different opinions on how often bags and boards should be replaced, one guy said bags 1-2 years (which is ridiculous sounding to me but who knows) and other said 4-5 years. But taking a look at the once clear bags that are now tinged yellow, and the pretty musty smelling comics, I should have done something earlier. :(
Headhunter, my hobbies started with hockey cards to comics back to hockey cards to cds back to comics to dvds, which I'm not much of a maniac anymore. :)

Yup, those are the industry standard. There's no way your bags should have changed colour, I got bagged comics from my grade school days that are still clear.
