Law & Order CI Question

I haven't been really following the show, but what happened to Robert Goren & Alexandra Eames (the 2 main detectives). I watched it last week and I'm watching it now and there's 2 newer detectives.

Nothing happened.

They just added two "new" detectives to lighten the workload for Vincent D'Onofrio (think he suffered from some kind of "exhaustion" earlier).

I believe they will "alternate" the detective pairings (for how long - I dun know).

yeah, and that's too bad, 'cause d'onofrio is about 10x better than noth. . .
